FINALLY!! I'M BACK ON!!! cheers

I use to play WoT when they had the beta testing and when they reset after testing my crap computer couldn’t handle it. Some time when the screen came on for the battles, I was already dead. Mad When it did work it was fun.
Last weekend I had it with the old computer and when got a new one, the game went from fun to awesome!!! bounce It’s been a while since I played and my driving is a little rusty, but getting better.

I know we have some more experience players in the club, do any of you have any advice?

My username is Sgt_Stinson. Pretty lame, I don’t know what I was thinking, but I don’t want to spend the gold to change it.

Maybe we can arrange a time to all log-on and get a training room together. Cool

PostSubject: Re: World of Tanks   World of Tanks Icon_minitimeThu Nov 22, 2012 2:40 pm

I have been reading some of the stuff on the Wot forum:
- Like don’t hide in the bushes, stay behind them about 10 meters and after you shoot back away to stay hidden
- Keep a couple of tanks between Tier 2 & 5 for making quick money making
- Light tanks for scouting, mediums are good for flanking, heavies for spear heading attacks.

But what is the country is best for developing tanks?

What best money maker / fighter / most fun tank(s)?

Are tank destroyers or SPGs worth getting?

How do you spend your money / credits?

What do you upgrade on your tanks first? (turret / gun/ motor/ etc..)

I know a lot of newbie questions. Any tricks or tips would me helpful? Very Happy

1.) DO hide in bushes. When you shoot, back out of the bush first, then shoot, go back into bush. Why ? If you shoot while you're in the bush, (everyone stop laughing here) the bush becomes transparent and we all know how bad a transparent bush can be. smirk.

2.) Keep tanks between tier 2 and 5 for FUN. Definitely not for making money. The lower tier tanks makes much less money than the higher tier tanks, so I really don't agree with that statement. You can make 80,000 with a tier 8 premium tank without too much trouble. Try doing that with your tier II.

3.) Light, medium, Heavy. While that is the general rule of thumb, there are certainly lots of exceptions to that rule all over the place. I would not be spearheading anything with a Tier 8 TD (Tank destroyer) Lower armour is way too weak. Great a support tank behind the other heavies.

4.) There seems to be a general agreement that, being this is a Russian based software, the Russian tanks are buffed a bit more than others. In the top tier X tank clan battles, I do see a lot of Russian IS7's and IS4's, but you will also see French Batchats, German Mause and American T110E5's. Bottom line, run what you like, each country has it's strong tanks. My preference personally, is to German and Russian Tanks.

5.) Money maker/fighter/fun. Money makers are your premium tanks. The German Lowe and Japanese T59 are some of the best. Fighter...hmmm depends on your preference style of fighting. You could argue that arty is your thing (not mine) or that face to face brawling is your thing. This answer depends all on your preference of style. You would have to give me more info on this question. Fun tanks...well...I really have fun with most of the tanks. I have a personal preference to the German E75, Japanese T59, German Jagdpanther II tank destroyer and several others...any tank that beats the crap out of the other tanks, well, that's fun to me.

6.) Tank destroyers and Self propelled guns. Sure, why not. They are the support tanks of the field and are necessary to the battle to keep everyone in check from sticking their noses out there or racing at the enemy. The Arty and TD's will eat you up. I'm not much of an arty guy, but I have and play them. Some people who excel at Arty, are some of the most dangerous players in the game.

7.) Spending money/credits. You get money and credits for winning and even for losing. You get more credits if you win of course and you can actually lose credits in the Tier X battles as the cost of repairs could very well outweigh the amount of credits you received for losing the game. If you do have the credits to burn, you spend them on upgrades or consumables.

8.) Which upgrades first? Sometimes you do not have a choice. Meaning, you need to upgrade the turret before you can get the upgraded gun. But wait, the turret with the gun is too heavy for the tank and it will not let you mount them. So, you now need to buy the tracks to support the extra weight. If I have the choice, I get the tracks last. The engines will make you get into battle faster but will also get you out of trouble faster if you need to. A dead tanks shoots no shells. Even if you are at 10% health, you are just as deadly as a tank with 100% health. Moral of the story, stay alive.

9.) Tricks/tips. I cannot stress this enough. Get yourself into a clan with other higher tier tanks as these guys are the ones who will guide you along and understand this alone, will speed up your progress several hundred percent. Trust me on this one. The single most important change to your progress you can do is join a good clan. Now, just with any group of people, there are good ones and bad ones, Find one that you have fun with first and learn second. If not, you will lose interest fast.

Lots of questions, lots of answers. Get yourself a headset and sign onto a free download called TEAMSPEAK. Most of the clans use it and require it so that we can talk to each other. It's a free download and I can help you with that if you like.

Now that my fingers are worn out from all of this typing (now you can see the need for Teamspeak, lol) I'm going to sign onto WOT and go kill some tanks.

Note to none World of Tanks players. Playing this game with improve you as a tanker on the outdoor battle field each month as this game teaches you tactics for evading enemy and tanking advantage of weaknesses. Wnat to be a better tanker, join WOT. (no, I didn't get paid to say that)

Good luck fellow tankers....cya on-line.

Stinger

Well, you have the record for the longest post! Shocked lol!

I will keep this advice in mind.
I did play some more last night and was able to improve my stats and driving, but I don't think I'm ready to join a clan yet.

I did have one game where I had a "I'm f*#k now" moment. I was the last guy on my team and there were 4 left on the other team, one with 5 kills too. I did get 2 of them and damage another. Very Happy

You are right about upgrading the motors, speed does help out a lot. Another upgrade that is a must is the radio. I found out last night using a starter tank, that if have low-end radio, you can get cut off from your team pretty fast.

That's your fault. You ask questions, I assume you want the answers, so I did.

I still recommend you join a clan even with lower tier tanks...it's too much fun your missing from the social side of this game that you do not see when you are on your own.

First off, I'm trying to understand what stats you are referring to. If it is the in-game stats, you get penilized for shooting your team mates by credits. At the end of the game, you will see that the game awards credits to your team mate depending on how much damage you did to him. Last night, some BOZO team mate walked right in front of my T34 shot a close range doing a pile of damage to him. Didn't kill him, but hurt em bad. At the end of the game, I had been penilized 32,000 credits which is then given to the Bozo dude. You do not get any damage credits for hurting your teammate, so that your personal stats do not go up for it.

The stats that are looked at the most is, Win ratio, Hit ratio, Damage ratio and Kill ratio. No one stat by itself tell the whole story. Somone with a low hit ratio may very well have a high damage ratio. Why ? Because he is Arty. Generally speaking, the better players have higher win ratios and higher hit ratios. If you have a win ratio that is 50% plus, generally your a fairly good player. I would have to look at the entire players stats to give you a specific evaluation though.

Any more questions....let me know.

I hate those guys, they're the worst! Ill be lumbering along in a heavy or a fast French tanks, and boom some scout or arty cuts me off and I knock off their track... ><

My tanks = E-75 (awesome), Lorraine (omgwtfhorrible!), Panther 2, ELC AMX (wicked fun!), T-34/85, Crusader, M4A3E2 (most deadly / underrated tier 6 medium, love it!)
