Subject: How will "Fury" effect the hobby? Sat Sep 20, 2014 8:51 pm
With the new Fury movie coming in October, how do you think it will have an impact on our hobby? Will we see more new members, increase in Sherman or Tiger sales, or some other effect?
You can do multiple section on this poll.

I am not sure if it will have any impact, my cynical view is that the general public is fickle with a short attention span and is inclined to move on to whatever entertainment comes along next week.
But I hope I am wrong, there.
Makes me want to make up anther Taigen Tiger I, though (but it doesn't take much to do that )

everybody loves a bad boy and from what I have seen they really make that Tiger look nasty. IF a person could get the RC hobby front and center when these people go to the movie wow would the hobby grow.

I think there might be a small increase in the hobby for a least for a few months.
More than likely you will see increase in Sherman sales, but how much of that will be the effect of the movie or Taigen and Mato releasing their new Shermans.
If Heng Long had their tanks out in store it would be a good opportunity for them, more new people would more likely to make a spontaneous purchase on a $150 tank over a $400 tank. Not to put the Taigen one down, it just most newbies go for the cheaper price.

Most likely new members for this forum, I have found a few people with RC tanks locally however they refuse to make any sort of club and seem to be selling them as they are only "Display items" in there homes.........
Hopefully Fury will get more people into tanks in general thus increasing the amount of people willing to play with them!

Most of the guys in this hobby are primarily model builders and tachtictions .The movie , as great as it is ,is about blowing stuff up ,over the top characters and even bigger action scenes . This will be a great boost for WoT and other video games. My guess is we will see a temporary influx of newbies , with $150 HL 's , but frankly ,as my nephew's say ,not enough stuff blowing up,not enough destruction. Then again as White Tiger alludes to ,this movie may bring out the closet tankers. ( Perhaps we need a limited HL quality battle senario so new guys aren't intimidated by the $million dollar, battle field dominating Tamiya 's) ......Short answer to the poll , " Not much of an impact"
