| Well guys, I did the 3 rd annual AirCadCon here in Waterloo over the weekend. I was a little disappointed in the turn out compared to last year. They were down about a 1/3 rd in the number of models displayed. But what was there was pretty cool. The organizers put me in one of the lecture rooms by myself so I had a little area to set up some trees and a couple of buildings and let cadets and attendees try out piloting the tanks around. I also set up a video display showing some battle video that Derek was kind enough to send me. So I had a nice little interactive display going. And of course with 3 tanks bombing around in a small room enclosed space it was pretty LOUD! LOL! Here is the video from my KT not a great video, too long and the action is too close in but you get some nice close ups of my Sherman and KV-1! LOL! And no, I'm not driving any of them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snkiVfLsZjU&feature=youtu.beAnother purpose I had in going to the event was I wanted to scope out the building and see if it might be suitable for our needs. And yes, it would be an awesome set up! The floor area is actually larger than our battle area. There is a balcony for over looking the battlefield and the issues with reflection would be dramatically reduced as the walls are a flat grey and the high ceilings will help also. Unlike the other places we have tried here that had mirrors, chandeliers, etc… that bounced our IR beams all over the place. I have started discussions with L/Col Ron Gowing about the use of the building one Sat. each month. He is excited because they are working on a plan for tri-service cadets being in the building and currently he was looking for a tie in with Army Cadets as part of the program and thinks we might be able to help. I will update everyone as I get information on this but hoping to put this to bed very quickly and use this as our winter home this year. Along with the above I also got an e-mail from an Army Cadet Corps in Palmerston (about 40 mins north of Kitchener) wondering if I could arrange a day at their local legion hall to do a battleday to see if the kids would be interested in doing a fund raiser to purchase a couple of tanks for the corp to join us in battledays. Interesting thought actually. There are 429 Army Cadet Corps with approx. 19,000 cadets parading each week. Might be interesting to put together a video/print package to send out to all the corps at some point. More thoughts needed… " /> " /> _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov

| Don't look like a lot of models there. but the vendors look packed. Looks like there would be a lot of room to run around in too and easy to get to. You keep on them Dean and keep us posted. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| All the cars and armour were upstairs so what you see down there double it upstairs. But like I said they were down by at least a 1/3rd. Not sure why...
This is a pretty big space with everything we need...
Will keep you advised... _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov

| That is an interesting facility for sure, well worth further checking into, IMHO. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

Hey, at least they are trying. This is only their 3rd show. Yes, it was disappointing compared to last year but they still had about 100 entries and there were some excellent models. Their big mistake was separating the models between up and downstairs. Ajax is the big one this weekend, 36 years I think, but this one can grow. They really have no overhead since it is run all by the cadets in their building so they just have to bring out the lurkers... I for one will continue to support them and work even more to help them grow it. I feel if we don't support things like this we won't move any of the younger generation into the broad hobby of modeling including R/C. If all goes well with the building and we start to get some momentum who knows... _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." | lurkers are lurkers for a reason. set some traps and you will catch a few, I hear gummie bears attract them. Seriously i would support the cadet way before i would support the ajax ipms show. The cadets will directly benefit from this. thats a good cause in my books. |

| Hey Dean, you got my support, let me know if I can help.
Do you think there is any chance we could use it for another December Battleday?

| That is what I am thinking. Just waiting for some kind of reply from the L/COL... you know officers! One way or another I will get something together for a Dec. meet somewhere dry and warm... _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..."
