Here is a quick and easy tank carrier. It took me about 20 minutes to make.

All you need is two plastic milk crates, some zip ties and a table saw.
Tank Carrier IMG_0205

Set you table saw up to take about 1/2 inch off. Make the first cut with the opening of the crate toward the blade. Use caution when sliding the crate though.
Tank Carrier IMG_0206

Rotate the crate and cut the bottom.
Tank Carrier IMG_0207

Rotate the crate one last time.
Tank Carrier IMG_0209

When your done cutting, it should look like this.
Tank Carrier IMG_0210

After you cut both crates, use some zip ties on the sides and bottom.
Tank Carrier IMG_0213

To help secure the top of the crates where they meet, you have to drill some holes.
Tank Carrier IMG_0214

After you drill the holes, take a knife and quickly shave the holes clean. Run a zip tie through the hole to finish it off.

That's it you are done! Very Happy
Plenty of room, even for a Tiger.
Tank Carrier IMG_0223

With this carrier you could easily customize anyway you want. Put a false bottom for tools or parts, a divider for your controller or batteries.
Use foam to keep you tanks in place or use the holes the crates to tie them down.
Tank Carrier IMG_0204

Or you can put some of the drawer grip mat material to help with sliding.

And the best thing about these crate carriers - they're stack-able!!
Which is great if you are traveling a good distance like me or Airbrushler.

It hold really good, but I'm not carrying anything over 30 lbs. It would be easy to reinforce them. That's what love about these carriers they are easy to make and allow you to modify them in anyway that suits your need.

Didi I mention that you have 6 handles too. Very Happy

I will take that as a complement! As everyone knows Lego was invented by NASA. Razz

or like
Stince said put a false bottom and store your radio and some tools i think it will be cool the have these and it's a Can-Am Forum exclusive it's not on the other site

I just scored 7 more crates, that means I can build three more carriers! Very Happy

If anyone is interested I would be will to whip one for them, if not I might use them for shelves in the garage.

Ah, that's what I was worried about...King Tiger, 26" long. This is what I am working on right now and hope to have it done by the next tank meet in July. I drew this up last night. Priced out the materials today. To be made out of Mohogany. There will be a top half and bottom half with a piano hinge in the middle. Clasps holding both sides together at the front and handle on top. Hardware was priced out around $20.00 at LEE VALLEY.

Hopefully it turns out good.

If I may suggest, some of the LCBO wooden wine crates are big enough for certain models and you don't need to buy wine, just ask the staff if they have any crates. They normally ask for a few loonies as a donation for sick kids.
The second option is Canadian tire plastic containers and tool boxes, endless supply...and relatively cheap, provides complete protection from elements and easy to transport and store.
Cheers.

I use plastic totes from Walmart with locking lids and foam inside except for the 2 wooden crates Knispel made me... :-)
