PostSubject: Sept. 12 and 13th battle event!   Thu Aug 27, 2015 10:12 am

Hi Guys,

I know I have yet to post the details of the KW Garrison but thought I would post this first. I had a discussion with the President of the KW Flying Dutchmen about setting up a battlefield for their annual scale rally. I have been to this event a couple of times and this is one of the largest scale rallies in North America. They usually get 3000 to 5000 people so it will be lots of exposure for us to people interested in R/C.

http://www.kwflyingdutchmen.com/scalerally.html

So, I will be setting up my travelling road show and invite any and all members to come Saturday or Sunday to have some fun, watch a great R/C air Show and oh yea, battle with your tanks! :-) If you come all your radios must be 2.4's so as not to interfere with air freq.

Let me know if you are coming. Admission is $7.00. Just easier to pay that than try to explain who you are with! This will also give you the chance to see the facilities here and look over the concept for the new battlefield with me.

Any questions let me know!

Dean

Yes, I for sure will be there 2 days. It is at Waterloo Rod and Gun Club
1075 Bo De Ln, St. Jacobs, ON N0B 2N0

I will give exact directions next week but it basically is about 15 mins north on the expressway from the Schawben club where we had last winters battles.

Here is the website:

did the grass cut today and will be down there Friday.

For those of you coming here are directions:

Off the 401 take the usual Kitchener exit
Stay to right as you approach town to go onto  Hwy 7/85 (Conestoga Parkway) towards Elmira
Exit at Regional Road #15, St. Jacobs exit right after the closed Northfield exit
At the end of the ramp turn Left onto King St. N. /Regional Rd. #15
you will go past the St. Jacobs market on your left through a couple of lights , and the road will curve around to the right to the corner of King/Weber/Lobsinger Line. There is an ESSO station kitty corner.

Turn Left there at Lobsinger Line (Regional Rd. #15) go exactly a kilometer
Turn Right at Twp. Rd. #32 (Three Bridges) you will see signs behind the tree so make sure you slow down after going a kilometer so you don't miss it.
Go up the road 1.3 kilometers and on the left is Bo-De Lane. There is a Rod and Gun Club sign there and you will know you are on the right road because there is a no exit sign.

Hope to see a few guys out!

Dean, if I can keep my schedule clear for the Saturday, I'd like to make it there.

I earn some points from the wife this past weekend, so I'll see if I can cash them in. Very Happy

Excellent day everyone, we made a good impression I think & lots of people were very curious as to what our little gizmos were up to.

I also noted on my way home that the club is about 3 minutes away from Shooters Choice. Oh joy oh bliss.

Thanks so much to Ed, Jordan, Derek, and my lovely wife Anita who came out today. Although the weather was a little iffy we actually stayed pretty dry if not warm! Crowds were down a bit probably due to weather but the airshow was fantastic really. I think we have a couple new members in the offing...

" />

Fun part was we were actually in the "licensed" area which allowed us to have a beer or two while battling!  Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Here are 2 old reprobates, my father Al and his pilot buddy Brian enjoying the airshow and a beverage!
" />

Here is a shot down the flightline

" />

And tent city

" />

Anita who really had fun all day fighting with the boys. I have now been charged with building a Sherman in 1942 "Desert pink" for her... Shocked Shocked Shocked

I have to admit it was good times in spite of the weather. Great to meet Anita, who has the makings of a formidable tank commander.

Here are some pics of the grounds

" We need to get abetter view of the battle field", he said

She nearly killed me several times but just as all seemed lost she spared me and found the repair button on the transmitter

The crowd watched in stunned silence as the battle raged on...
