I know that some of you have those gorgeous wooden crates for your tanks (and they are wonderful BTW...) But some of us would like to use a more readily available item for hauling around our tanks. Lowe and behold (yes pun intended), Lowe's has on sale currently a Stanley FatMax 28" toolbox for $29.99 CDN. (Flier says 21", but the sku/product code are for 28" and they only have a 28" version, scans as $29.99 as well). Regular price $69.99, on sale until November. So I went into Lowe's and also found out that currently if you buy ANYTHING your receipt will have a $20 off your next purchase of $100 or more. So buy a piece of 0.25 cents or something dirt cheap and then buy 4 of them to save an additional $20 (Taxes). It comes with a tray, which if you have a short tank (length or height) you can likely keep there as a spare parts tray or whatnot. Rough inside dimensions are 24"L x 9.5"W x 8"H plus extra height in the vaulted lid. It fits a Jadgpanther (Monster #1's tank) but cannot put the tray in due to the upper hull (contact). The 27mhz antenna easily bends and fits. Showing the space along the sides of the toolbox. Note the rough 9.5" (241mm) width inside are those twin ribs you see in the center of the box. (King tiger is supposedly about 8.3" wide according to Taigen, but may require angling the turret to get the barrel to fit neatly. I will check later). So I'm going to go o custom foam and buy bunch of 3/4" hard foam sheets and make custom inserts (cut out track sections and add in corner pieces to allow for no shifting in the box, Anyone want to make a group buy of foam?

I knew a foam place here in Kitchener that might be able to do it dirt cheap. Do you have a king tiger and or a tiger 1. Do they fit? _____________________________________________ Tiger PowerDer Tiger ist auf dem losen

I you have harder foam cut out to avoid the tracks (aka lower hull on top of foam) and the centre section wide enough to have minimal track clearance, the tank should not be able to shift too far side to side. I'd likely only have a small insertable soft shim for the sides.

Their site says they have 1" brake away cube foam could get a block that is the whole inside volume then it will work for any tank then pick away the cubs until you have it set up how you like it _____________________________________________ Tiger PowerDer Tiger ist auf dem losen

| The normal-sized Fat Max bins (No idea what size but they don't look comically wide) will fit up to a Tiger with it's barrel turned slightly to one side. Never picked up the extra long ones as I'd have nowhere to store them conveniently around the house Thinking of expanding my container collection, buying more tanks is often easier. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

Straight on with the barrel, no. But when you turn the turret... Slightly turned allows a KT to fit However there is barely any room for the barrel Or the exhausts. It is indeed tight on the sides but nothing a good hard foam base around the track edges wouldn't fix. (You could also add in some really thin sponge sheet w/ adhesive backing to the sides for "some" protection. A few mm a side in clearance. Stop banging the boxes around! HOWEVER, if you turn the turret around you reduce the overall length and the KT fits with some decent space to spare. Do not know about the Henschel turret type though. And yes I know the muzzle brake is 90 degrees out. It was how I bought it and has not been fixed yet.

I'm going to hit custom foam today I think... Anyone else wanting some foam? I can pick up some of the cubed stuff for you guys, but I'm staying with denser foam that won't shift under a few pounds of metal tank

OK. Was at Custom foam. the standard pluck foam is soft and is in 1" thick sheets or 2" thick. So you could cut one in half and fit the bottom of the tool box (Inside dims are 26" x 9.5", not including handle protrusions on the ends.). To get the higher density foam versions would be adding 65-80% cost. I ordered 40 sheets of 1" thick higher density foam, 26" x 9.5" for $100 taxes in.
