| for most of this winter i've been working on making replica of a mock tiger from the movie Kelly's Heroes. Its almost done but i figured i should do a build thread for it's before i finish it so For anyone that doesn't know in the movie they used T-34/85 as the base of this tank. T-34 base is being used for this and to save some time a henglong tiger one upper hull and rear will also be used so i started by cutting off all the crap that will not be used like the tools that are molded into the hull and started to plan out all my cuts i ended up cutting out over a inch to its width while trying to save some of the more detail parts i must have tried 3 different ways to put it all together but i said some choice words and started using wood for it alot of reinforcements on the inside did a dry run with the turret in place when it was all dry and found the turret hit the view ports for the driver and the mg. cut those ports down, move the turret hole back a quarter and it works better now i know that the movie tank the back end was flat on the gearbox but i didn't have a hull stretch and since it only a quarter inch different i think it turned out ok this part is not fun. had to change the top angle from original front as well as build out the lower hull hey look. more wood. that should make it strong and give me something to glue to. i may have to attach the front panel with magnets just so someone can get at the track tensioners. Cut some more off the upper hull and there is a start to the putty work. need sandpaper that doesn't clog up in 3 swipes _____________________________________________ I do things in the name of science but first hold my beer

| i had to cut a nice chunk out of the turret to get it to sit and turning right side fenders were all wrong so i cut them off and you can see how far in the front i dropped them and what the old angel was like. also i switched the fenders from left to right in prep for my next step. dont think that zim kit will fit on the sides anymore _____________________________________________ I do things in the name of science but first hold my beer

| Now that lower is starting to look the part! I will have to come up with a way to fill those wheels. Good job so far Russell... _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov

| Simple way to fill the wheels. Use circumferences and rolling/overlapping cone design... Use the circumference of the ID for the inside chord length and the circumference of the OD for the outer chord length. The angle of gap will create your "Drop" in height between the inner and outer. Otherwise if using say 0.5mm thick sheet, cut the inner and outer diameters and heat it up until softer (Not gooey...) and stretch on a golf ball or similar to get the curve. Your gap will be on the outer edge.. |

| Time to recycle some more of the old tiger. the fenders are longer than the movie tiger but i really wanted to use the hinge detail. cut off the hinge and it would be more like the movie. More details for the front as well ready for the tow rings. Working with what there i got the mounts for the tow rings done, just needs some putty work to finish that part and then there are those fender. A little wider than movie to better fit the tracks and cut to match the side skirt. now i see the movie tank side skirt are at a steeper angle but to fix it i would lose too much of the side profile so what i have left is the air system and exhaust to rebuild. They're too big from a stock tiger1 and so far i have no luck finding something to build it out of without killing 2 highlighters i have that are the right size _____________________________________________ I do things in the name of science but first hold my beer

| I was impressed with your tank that you brought to Oshawa. Just read your post and see how much work really went into building it. Well done. It will be a trophy piece like Jordan 's Grant or Mark V. |

| Its been too low since i did anything to this one and the way things are going at work i needed the distraction and now that i got a drill press i could shape the air filters ok smaller than the real ones i sized them down and made them look like the stock ones on the toy. . . . then i looked at the movie tank and its different. if needed i can rebuild. Now come to the part that taken the better part of 2 weeks. the piping for the air system. so many angles and so many wrong cuts the last part i'm working on is the exhaust. once again down sized to look more like the movie. i even have a set of covers for a true 1/16 tiger if anyone wants them the next time i get out to a battle I think my time paid off in the end but i haven't put the turret on yet to make sure it clears _____________________________________________ I do things in the name of science but first hold my beer
