I am curious about the Taigen Tiger, I should have paid more attention to it at the meet Embarassed

http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/taigen-rc-tanks-with-smoke-and-sound-tiger-i.html

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJz4tJT66OA

The upper hull attachment and switch in the hatch are interesting.

The moldied in zimmerit are interesting, along with the later cupola, steel wheels and turret mounted spare track links (an expensive after market part to purchase separately).

Some of it has a "Heng Long" look and sound to it, so I am wondering if Mato accessories like the 3:1's could be used and would HL spare tracks would fit.

I also wonder about the internal area having sufficient room for an SLU installation.

This would look good in Abt 506 colours Wink Wink

Taigen Tiger? (Stinger?) Abt_5012

OK, I was too lazy for another scan Embarassed , that pic is an earlier Tiger, the same book has a later Tiger in Abt.506 colours, too, on another page.

Taigen's are a weird breed... they essentially ARE HL's, with all the available asiatam upgrades.. My Tiger just happens to have suffered through the upgrades as installed by me Razz

The hatch switch location is modeled into the lower hull ontop of the 'fenders'

Torsion bar suspension, metal wheels, metal barrel, metal hatches.. cupula I am not sure but if it's a late version, probably metal.

Stinger's the expert here! Very Happy

I tried to get this metal Tiagen Tiger few months ago as well but I see they are still out of stock:( so I bought the parts to build it from Welsh Dragon .

I used Jordan's Tiger as reference and I gutted my HL to make a prototype SLU version first . I left out the smoker so there is lots of room for everything . Without the lower metal body though I did have to switch to plastic tracks because the rear posts couldn't handle metal tracks and both sides broke off .

PS : I notice the air filters were not on the tigers ,was that an option?

I think they were removed in services sometimes, but it looks like they were not fitted to new tanks at the factory after Oct. 1943.

The Tiger is pretty much an HL unit that has been converted with lots of cast metal parts and all of the upgrade parts will fit as far as I can tell. I don't see any reason why they would not as it does look like an HL piece.

If I can make it Saturday, I will bring it with me again. My boss is asking me to work. I'm going to see if I can get out early, like noon time. If I can, I'll see you guys then...if not...have a great day !

That would be great, especially if some could be of the internals, like around the gearox/motor area.

Thanks Very Happy

The filters were only on early model Tigers, the WSN Tiger is a later model.

Unfortunately, I found out the shipping price from the UK dealer would be 100 Pounds, which is higher than the 89 Pound sale price.

Looks like a person would have to find one from a different source, but any I have seen are from the UK, so far.

....and, the link in my first post is wrong, I meant to show this one;

Thanks, that price is pretty comparable to the UK price, without the high shipping cost.

I am not ready to buy, just yet; just kicking tires (or tracks).

I have a couple SLU conversions I want to do before I buy something. If that seller has some left by then, I may go for it, otherwise, I would look for something else.

Yeah, it looks to me like both pictures shown, at least today, show the early model,

I will be interested to see what the late model they will sell actually looks like.

Yeah, to my amazement, I spotted that Wink

I would like to get something like the picture (minus the metal "upgrades") with, single headlight, late coupala, zimmerit, steel wheels and spare track on the turret.

If it is like the HL, (and I'm not sure it basically isn't an HL). I expect it will need the longer gun to be more true to scale, but that isn't a big deal to fix.

Hey Glen, Welsh Dragon now has them in stock!

Taigen Tigers!!

Looking briefly it may be more expensive, but Welsh is an excellent retailer and ships faster than domestic packages... they're miracle workers! Plus.. you can add in all sorts of accessories!
