Is anyone running 480 motors with their SLU, and if so, is it working out OK?

I'd think they'd be fine. Thats just my thought. The SLU is rated for A LOT of amps, and the voltage isn't an issue as that wouldn't change...

In fact you might actually be safer with 480s because they'll stall less, and that's when you draw the most amps.

I was going to put some 480's in my Sherman, but the motors are longer than the stock ones and the hull was to narrow. I used 400's instead, they're the same size as the stock ones .
Just make sure you have room for the extra lenght.

Thanks, that is important to know.

Even the "cats" don't have unlimited room so motor length is critical to fitting everything in.
