Any opinions?

Is the 400 good enough, will the 480 drain a battery too quick, etc.

I was thinking of running the 480's but I think that it might be best to look at the full picture.

It says in that link the you don't get something for nothing and one thing is the speed at which it runs the battery down.

Some of the guys here are running 400's and I think i will try 400's with the Waltersons gearboxes.

I have to admitt I was drawn into the idea that 480's would give me more torque to turn in grass or climb hills . But like they said you don't get something for nothing .

From what I've heard the 480's will drain the battery faster. The Americans like to use them in their Tamyias because of the speed reduction when they get hit, this way they can move around.

Losing 50% of power after one hit is just a dumb system, I don't care who makes it! tongue

I have the 400's on my Bulldog, but standard gearboxes (for the speed of a light tank)
I like them, zippy things!

Glen:

I replaced my HL gearing and motors with a 3:1 gearing with bearings and 400 motors the Pershing runs great at slow speeds and climbing but has no top end speed. ( Plastic track, metal track makes it much worse. )

My Bulldog has standard HL gearing and motors and runs very well with metal tracks.

I would like to improve the Pershing but I also have no idea if changing to 480 's is a good idea or not. ( Any one ?? )

Next, anyone got 2 480's they do not want if I proceed.

Is 480 the next step or are there acceptable other sizes between 380 and 480 ?

Wayne

I heard awhile back that a fan was recommended with running the 480's as they'd burn up the standard HL electronics.... I'm not sure if that's true or not....
