Heya folks.

I just learned of this coolness from a friendly Monaris tech that was helping my little hobby store with a debit machine issue. I am green as they come to the world of RC, but very interested in the IR battles you folks hold.

My intro question is: how much should a new player be squirreling away in order to break into this hobby? For reference, I'd be hunting after a stock M3 Stuart; but like I mentioned, I'd need all the radio gear as well.

Any tips?

Cheers!

Greetings! And welcome aboard! I think he M3 Stuart you are thinking of is 1/6th scale. We operate with 1/16. There is no mass production Stuart available in this scale. Price wise for 1/16 RTR and battle compatible you will be looking at around $500 to $1000 to get in the game depending on what you want in your tank. Best bet? come out to a battleday like this Saturday and we can show you around and someone always has a tank you can try out... :-)

Do you mean a 1/16 Stuart ? You need a custom kit to RC that. If you are looking for a 1/6 Stuart I have one converted and all ready to go with detailed 3D printed parts. I am looking to sell it.

Welcome BTW.

Regards,

MikeC.

Thanks for the replies gents!
I'll see if I can get a Saturday off soon to come check out the action.

Yes I was originally looking for a 1/16th Stuart, but if that's not a good call for someone fresh to the hobby, then I will hunt for my next picks. I appreciate the advice!

The advice to show up for a battle day before buying your first tank is crucial. Unfortunately I and others have not done it because we didn't know about the club. You will save a lot of money on your first battler tank if you do. If you can't make Saturdays on non battle weekends some of us go up to do some work Sundays weather permitting and run some tanks and you are welcome to run some of mine to get an idea of how the battle thing works. It is truly an ever improving world class RC tank battlefield and we are very lucky to have it. Check this thread if you might be able to make it

If you look on matomart.com it will give you a better idea of what’s out there. There are always deals to be made in club to get up grades like the battle system we use and maybe the tank you are looking for.
