| Subject: TK-40 setup...? Tue Mar 21, 2023 2:15 pm | |
| So I picked up my first-ever TK-40, and boy am I having issues...
RX #1 doesn't play ball at all. I bind OK (Spektrum DSM2), solid power light. Tank does not respond. RX works in other tanks (TK-22)
My old Tiger 1 receiver (RX #2) works, blinking light, and I get uncontrollable machine gun sounds (both of them?) no matter where I set my sticks / trims / etc.
Zero response from either motor, and I "might" be hearing turret rotation sounds but that's hard to tell with both MGs firing constantly.
It's not an SBus board, as it can accept battery power via CH1-4.
Am I missing something obvious? A weird set-up process I'm not used to? _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Um.. TK-22/24/40/40S have the exact same footprint and layout for connectors. (TK40/40S is missing a mounting hole next to CN5). Battery power connects to CN1, SW has a power switch, or has a jumper if the switch is in the battery circuit. When you buy a TK-40S I think it still comes with the 4 wires as the change is an internal firmware change only. If non S-Bus version you connect CH1-CH4 to the Receiver (There is no battery connection to any of these. The RX gets power from the TK40 Board, axa does not need a battery for itself). If an S-Bus version you only connect the RX to CH1. CH2 is for 2nd MG, CH3 is for cannon servo elevation, and CH4 is for engine deck level switch. For gearbox movement, you need to take it out of "neutral gear" that was introduced with the TK24 (Not sure what stick controls are to do that on 4 channel controls)... If a non-Sbus board, it should hook up exactly like your old TK22 board. |

| The new Tks are so tie into the set-up with the Flysky radio I also found it is difficult to use other brands. I ended up getting one of the new Flysky radio and everything works if you follow the instructions on their website.
It is not whether it is Sbus or not. Clark basically assume that you are using the Flysky radio so all the combinations of buttons and switches are based on the Flysky radio.
To save myself grief I just use the Flysky radio for all my newer Clark boards (Tk-40 and up). |

I don't think the non-Sbus version has neutral gear but I'll check it out. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

I don't see how using any other 4-channel radio would affect the PWM (whatever) inputs that the Clark board is getting and translating into functions. That doesn't make any sense to me; if I were using sBus then yea I'd probably get one of the Flyskys, but that's never been affordable for me with 9 tanks to upgrade. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Jordan we are the dinosaurs unfortunately. I am still mostly Tamiya and IBU so any good old fashion 4 channel radio still does the job. Tk-40 and above I would suggest you move to Sbus and the Flysky radio. |

| SO! It's a TK-40S Dean set me up with a new FlySky radio with SBus, and with some minor fiddling around I figured it all out... and it runs nicely I am evolving!! I actually really like this setup with the radio. I can't afford to upgrade my fleet, but eventually that'd be nice. The new High Freq. FET's are fantastic and driving is just nicer at all speeds. Engine sounds, neutral gear, and rev's are very cool and clear. I like it. So, the IS-2 is now battle ready.. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| The FlySky radios with SBus I have can take three models each. So you don't have to have a radio for every tank. _____________________________________________ You may be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you dance with the reaper! - Death

So, the IS-2 is now battle ready.. Ya. The S-Bus versions are the most user friendly changes that could have happened. I am slowly converting everything to S-Bus. Each of the FS controllers can officially have up to 6 bound receivers. My biggest beef with the FS controller? That I cannot name the models/bound RX's... Model 1 thru Model 6... Bleh... |

| Jarlath just label your tanks. Radio One Tank 4 or something like that. Better yet use number decals on the tanks for their radio and model # !!!!!!! |

| LOL. I label the remote with the tanks they control. Reason? I have 4 remotes...
I may alter that and make a chart and store my remotes separately from the tank itself soon (More remotes!). |

Yea that's a bit of a letdown, my 5 year old Spektrum DX6 can hold 250 models all with fully programmable names! _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT
