| Here are some references we talked about at the Nov. 11th meet. KT's had a variety of camo but from what I have seen, the Porsche turret tanks were three colour camo, either "blotched" like my KT or stripped, HL tried to go for the stripes but didn't quite get it. Beware of the artist's colour drawings in eastern European books, they look real neat but a guy that knows more about this stuff than I do refers to them as "vodka inspired creations" because most of them didn't really exist. Stripped Camo Blotched camo Colourized photo of an ABT. 503 tank, Hungary Oct. 1944 (this one's a Production Turrtet but the Porsche Turrets got this camo, too. Tanks were painted yellow at the factory, here's how the brown and green went on, check out the young fella on the right with the spray gun; _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Wow That is some great info Glen. THX I am always surprized at at how little real documentation was made of the " enemy" equipment . Historians have done a lot of work to help in this area but there sure is a lot of controversy. In the greatest war of the planet , you would think every detail would have been documented ...... |

I think at the time, they were mostly glad it was over and wanted to get on with things. Mt dad used to say he was glad to get off the Bangor Minesweeper and board the train for home. History wasn't important at the time, I recall as little kid seeing lots of WWII Jeeps chopped up for utility vehicles or canablized for their engines. In the early 1960's there was very little info available on German equipment, it became interesting to me because it was hard to find out much about it (now these days, they complain that there's too many models of German AFV's in proportion to others). When the family moved to the UK for two years in the mid 1960's, the modeling hobby wasn't just for kids at the time there and there weere many more resources on equipment from all countries there, as compared to home. - knispel wrote:

The period from mid 1944, on is tougher to get info on for researchers, photographic paper was in short supply, colour photos almost non-existent and people that were there are few, now and pushing 90 and it was so long ago, now; heck, I can't remember something from last year, myself _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| If a person is concerned about historical accuracy, they have to be careful verifying some of the colur plates from eastern Europe.
More informed historians that me have questioned and in some cases, disproved, their authenticity.
