| Well hi there my fellow canadians, I have been into tanks for years and after building staic models & lots of wargameing items i have decided to take the leap into the Rc world. Right now i am trying to pick between the 1\16 scale Tamiya Tiger 1 or King Tiger tanks the problem is i have been told by a few people that one is better then the other is there any chance someone could give me the pro's\cons of each? (The King Tiger is my favorite tank but i do love detail and would be happy to wait for a better one if need be)
Thanks
Tiger. |

| Stinger, here on the forum, has some experience with the Tamiya Tiger II, perhaps he will comment. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| kt, sherman, leopard 1 and gepard were all 1974 tooling, they all lack of details or misshapped. major problems for kt: 1. none propotional gun barrel, too short. 2, turret track hanger, no detail, 3 . plastic tracks were old tooling, break easily, need metal replacement. 4. overall details are not accurate or short. But Porch turret kt is different story. it has much better detail because it was static model originally, that is why even trumpeter copied tamiya turret for the details. coverting it to rc with full option is lots of work. tiger 1, the first full optional tank, it has been evolved long enough for tamiya fixed all gearbox problems. it is very good runner, the details is much better. but still tamiya did some short cut for details probably because it is rc tank. it is the favorite for the people to do the ir battle at danville, va. i always recommend t1 over kt for new tankers. even later full option tanks, pershing, panther, jadgpanther, leo need more skills to build. pershing has tight space in hull, panther and jadgpanther sprocket need fix, leo tuuret is so tight to fit all electronics and battery. but they all are different, we need more different tanks on battle field. |

The downside it take about 3 weeks to get. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

It's been awhile and Glen's the expert, but I THINK it's just a matter of getting the swivel-hatched commander's cupula, and a single center-located headlight in place of the original 2. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

Sorry for my late reply I have not been on in a few days. Work keeping me rather busy. I have HL, Torro and Tamiya Tigers and King Tigers. I must say I do like the quality of the Tamiya line with the steel undercarriages and suspensions. There is massive debate over building a Taigen or HL to Tamiya specs cheaper so I won't get into that. My preference is with Tamiya for that reason. Build it once and build it right. To this point I have not seen Tamiya gears blow out as do the competition. The frames on the gear sets are much heavier than the competition and I think that also helps. For me the King Tiger is my preference. One beastly looking tank that like it's junior cousin, struck fear in their enemies. Nothing wrong with doing a Tiger I either. White? Sure, why not. _____________________________________________ My Tanks <<== Click hereCan-Am Tank Club <<< Web site linkTiger I | King Tiger | Panther G | PzIII | PzIV | Stug IV | SturmTiger | Pershing/Howitzer | M16 Halftrack | M26 Super Pershing | M48 Patton | M41 Bulldog | Gepard | Leopard | KV-1 | KV-2 |T-34 | |

| So after much debate i am still hoping to find a deal on a Tamiya Tiger 1 or King Tiger, However i have also started looking at the other brands that i can upgrade as my budget allows it. However what brand has the next bet Tiger\King Tiger with the most features? So far i have looked at (IF i cant find a tamiya soon, since i want to get painting ) -Taigen King Tiger -Henlong Tiger or King Tiger -Full Metal (HL?) Tiger 1 _____________________________________________ |

| Talk to freakydude about a taigen king tiger, they aren't much different from the henglongs at all..essentially they are the same thing, as with most taigens.
As per your budget you mentioned on rcu, you could go with a torsion bar mostly metal taigen tiger 1 for a good price. They're excellent runners. Again talk too freakydude / immortal hobbies. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

Thanks for the suggestion! I would just need to give it a new board right? Because i really want these features if i can some how afford them.... Metal Tracks Smoke Barrel Recoil And yes the Budget is $500, I sent Freaky a message hopefully he will get back to me this week lol _____________________________________________ |

| how about hooben elefant tank without control board $400 and $76 control board $76? hooben is much better than taigen. but if your budget is $200, go taigen. |

| With only the control board i would still need
-A Controller -servero's for a recoiling barrel\So on.
So right now unless i can get a tamiya Tiger in my budget Range doesn't seem like i have much choice other then getting the all metal Taigen with some upgrades! If i can find it for a good price =/ _____________________________________________

| It's a good tank. Since you don't yet have a club out there, worrying about digital radios and Tamiya / Clark / whatever / battle systems is something to do later. Whatever you pick up, customize it, learn it, have fun I completely rebuilt my first Tiger tank 3 times, that's how it goes! _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| So from Immortal hobbies to get a tank going would be
Metal Taigen Tiger 1 $400 System Upgrade Package $165
*face palms* Well i might be a bit screwed lol this hasen't even added the barrel recoil........ Any suggestions guys? I like the metal but i might have to drop it...Plus i am pretty sure shipping will kill me as well.
Also apparently they don't carry the Metal King Tiger (If it does exist at least)
So if i went for the none metal...... From Immortal hobbies at least
Taigen Tiger 1 LATE Version or King Tiger Henschel Turret (Or should i go with Henlong?) System Upgrade Package (Clark TK22 Board,Hobbyking HKT6A 6 Channel 2.4 ghz Radio) ???? To make the gun barrel Recoil Metal Tracks
what do you guys think is the better move for a new tanker? a Killer metal tank that will push the budget right off (I could just get it stock for now...) or the Plastic version that i can get upgraded already?
All suggestions\feedback would be great! I want something that will last and not crap out on me. (Thus why i hate the idea of the plastic gears...)
