| This would be so much a build post, but more of an update progress. Main because I forgot and was lazy to take picture along the way. First thing I did was got organized! The kit comes with a lot of little screws, washers, etc.. I remember reading on another forum about a guy who used a bunch of zip-lock bags. I thought that was good, but I think there is a better way. So when I was in Canadian Tire last week I pick up a cheap organizer case and labeled each section by the part # for the manual. The manual is very easy to follow and was having no problems until I had to mount the traverse motor bracket to the support plate. The hole by the edge needs to be center align for the traverse to work. The problem is the 4 mounting hole are off centered. I just re-drilled some new holes and used a spot for safe measure. Problem solved. After that I whipped right though the turret part. I'm not liking the way the back loading hatch is put together. The hinge system is flimsy and wants to keep popping open and sag. Going to try to reinforce it or glue it shut. The inside of the turret upside down. Next is the installing of the road wheels and suspension. Have read this is the most difficult and problematic part. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

Historical the Elefant was just as mechanical challenge. The biggest battle between this two would be the maintenance crews and the tanks. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| Here is more done. One thing that is cool with this kit is that it has a built in track adjuster for the idler. The road wheals and the suspension arms. The wheels a lone have 6 parts, for total of 12 wheels. One side done with the road wheels and idler installed. The inside of the hull where the suspension arm is attached. The locking pin ( I think that's what it called ? ) up against the inner hull wall is a pain in the a$$ to get on. Also here is a building tip for you. When pushing a piece together don't be holding an open tube of super glue between the fingers of the hand that's pushing. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

Yeah, if all things were true to scale, an Elefant, KT or Jagdpanther should be able to take just about anything else out at around 135 feet away (1/16 scale for 2.000 metres) However, we are limited by IR capabilities and the field would need to expand, a lot _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Now that I have the tank built, I need to add the zimmerit to make it a true Elefant. So here is my dilemma, do I buy the Atak Model 1/16 Zimmerit for Elefant or do I use putty and do my own. Atak Model 1/16 Zimmerit for Elefant TankPros - Is faster and easier, they're pre-made piece that glue in to place. Cons - Cost for the kit is more than double of the putty. The zimmerit looks to machine made and not natural looking, remember it was put on my hand. The Putty MethodPros - Has a more natural and unique look and weathers better. More cost efficient. Cons - Time! (with the end of the battle season, I'll have lot's of.) When I did my Tiger it took about 6 hours, but I did learn how to go faster near the end. I was also using white Squadron Putty which dries in 20 - 30 minutes. If a use putty this time around I will use Milliput, it takes 3 - 4 hours to harden So I ask you guys what would you do and what will look better? _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| I'm not sure, either.
I have seen the kit stuff and it looks quite good.
If you can make it from Miliput, thats great too. My problem is that I if I made mine out of Mitiput, I would always see the bits i wasn't happy with, but thats just me. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."
