Do not give Captain Action any more creative ideas Laughing

For general info;

I have sent the notice on the meet to Black Creek and reminded them about the BBQ.

I have also asked if they are good with us moving the trailer close to the field, before the Aug. 24th meet.

It always seems like a long walk back with the stuff at the end of the day.

I was over at the field today and cut the grass to keep it short so as not to have as much to cut next Friday.

Mike was there and said the BBQ will be available.

Best of all, we moved the trailer to the stone covered area, now it is close to the field Very Happy

I suggest always checking the forum and website the day before the meet, especially before committing to a long drive, just in case we had to call a rain date, or there is some other problem.

However, we have put in a requisition for good weather for Aug. 24th (I still suggest checking on the 23rd, though)

Things will be a bit easier to set up at this meet.

The BBQ is in the garage, instead of at the front of the main building, not long walk bringing it out, or taking it back.

The trailer is just a few steps from the field, with full access all around it, it was bad enough getting the stuff out in the morning, worse dragging it all back to the trailer at the end of the day.

We have a new bridge for the ditch at the far end of the field, Captain Action will ne longer have to use Stince's Pz III as a bridge Shocked  (those who were here last year might recall that)

This will be an improvement, I hope.

It has been designed and load rated for the "Cats" Wink

In  spite of the guard rails, the Capt. will likely still be able to perform his famous barrel roll (which would be firne, if we were flying RC Planes)

As of Thursday morning, here it the forecast for Saturday;

Sunny, with a high near 76. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Light winds? not sure how we will handle that, usually there's a pretty good breeze at the meets to blow the tents around and push light stuff off the tables.

Since I live close by, my intent is to get there early and open things up, set some of the bridges and put the boxes of trees out in order to shorten up the set up time when everyone else arrives.

Stinger and I will prep the field on Friday afternoon.

Things should be in good shape for Saturday Very Happy

August is an easy maintenance month, the field is completely dry (as opposed to spring) and grass growth is more moderate and dry, so cutting and weed whipping goes pretty well Very Happy

I figure that I usually wake uo too early, anyway, and wind up waiting around home to leave for the field.  Not to rub it in but it is a 6 minute drive, so I might as well go over there and tap away at getting some of the stuff out, hopefully it will give us some more "quality time" on the field after everyone else gets there.

I don't plan to set the whole field, I am not that ambitious Embarassed and I think its good to have different people involved in the set up, that way we get a variety of set up lay out ideas to stir things up a bit from month to month Very Happy

I'll be heading over to the field early this morning to open things up Very Happy

Current forecast:  Sunny, with a high near 77. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Temp this morning was 49F Shocked  but once the sun gets to work, I expect we'll see the forecast high.

We had a good day, today, weather was excellent.

Dgsselkirk supplied the burgers and was are chef on the BBQ, they were excellent; perhaps it was the Pilotka (Russian Field Cap) he was wearing while cooking Wink
