Yep, it's been done before. I think TheCommander on RCU did one.

If I do, I'll be cutting it in half lengthwise, and take about 3/4" off one side to make it narrower. Then re-cut the turret ring.. if I have enough room. That way you get the offset turret this tank had.

Other than that, its just a matter of building up some styrene sheets on the hull and turret, swapping the driver & gunners position and some work on the lower hull.. rivets.. bam Jap tank!

Just make sure leave enough room for the motors.

And what about using a 1:24 scale turret ring and motor?

what about using Panda's Pz 38 ?
biggest part of this would be too sit down and decide on the parts and how you get everything working together. I am thinking there wouldn't be a whole lot of room in this one.

Naw, there wouldn't be. The limiting factor when shrinking the hull would be when the gearboxes start to touch, or the outside of the 'new' turret ring rides against the hull sides.

Then if you look again, the upper right side of the hull actually sticks out above the fenders. That's a lot of room for the turret gear to move over.

The Panda, I dunno.. that brings a whole new set of R/c issues... besides I don't think the 97 was that small. Anyway, it's one of those 'good enough!' projects!

Why use a micro retract servo and just do away with the turret motor and it could be easily done with a bell crank or even direct linkage with tie rod ball sockets
