Derek, sorry I am really terrible at taking pictures when I am building. This one is tough since there are many details part to the main gun assembly and NO instructions. So basically I have to search the web for 1/35 builds and WWII pics to figure it out. It is a combination of my two books (Wydawnictwo Nashorn and Squadron's Nashorn/Hummel/Brumbar) and Dragon's 1/35 scale instructions.
I had bought a brand new Panzer IV for the lower chassis but then ended up falling in love with the upper hull as well and put in all kinds of stuff on it (Servo recoil, metal parts etc) so I have to make sure that the lower hull will fit the Nashorn and the Panzer IV. As it turn out I only have to get rid of the smoker, remove 1/2 of the back plate and move it to the upper hull of the Panzer IV, and chop half of the Nashorn cab extension to make the lower hull worked with both upper hulls so I am actually a very happy camper. They share the electronics and gears/motors so it is prefect.
The kit is the usually Juckenburg fair. I have gotten couple of kits from him (SU-152, KV-85 and now the Nashorn) so I am kinda use to them and probably not a good person to talk about the pros and cons. I have not done a Profiline kit but did do the Nick's M36B1 and Nick's is definitely more detail and cleaner to work with, but if you want to build a Nashorn, there really isn't much choice.
I will let it sit for a bit before trying to put a servo recoil on it.

Oh my gosh That is a really great project . I hope you get it together for a showing at one of our meets .

Thanks guys....... I know I said I will let it sit for a while but of course the whole weekend I have been staring at it trying to figure out how the servo recoil will work. Here is the latest pics with the rest position and the full recoil position and as you can see there is quite a distance right now and the sub-micro servo won't be able to do that much travel anyway. I have also put in some additional details like the breech block guides, the recoil guard and the recuporator rod.
I have actually put in the mounting point for the servo control arm on the other side of the breech block already as there is too much details on the main gun on the left side. The big question is whether the recoil is smooth enough with the sub-micro servo right now so I have been grinding away at it to make it as little resistance as possible...... Stay tuned.

The gun on my halftrack was similar..
I got lazy, and decided that with elevation and traverse taking more precedence, I'd leave the recoil out of the equation. Anything I could think of installing would have been bulky and / or look odd :\
Exposed gun breaches are tricky!!

Jordan, there is no way to put elevation, rotation and recoil all in an open cab. Actually I could potentially hide a HL rotation unit underneath the deck but space is already tight down there. So I am going with "manual" on the rotational and elevation....... :-)
Put some WD40 on the barrel slide (whatever you call it.... the rail the barrel slides on) and it is pretty smooth now so I will try to put the recoil servo on and see how it goes. There goes nothing !

Mike you sure about that? I can think of several ways to make this fully functional. The only way to do this would be too have wire push rods sliding through plastic cables like the RC aircraft have. You could hide the servos under the deck at the back and run the 1/32" cable through the gun carriage, the carriage itself would have to sit on a bearing for easy pivots, elevation would be easy as it is a straight up and down affair. The recoil would be harder but as long as the cable looped at the front of the tank it would push the barrel back easy enough.
I like the detail on the gun though and might forgo the recoil, another idea might be to spring load the barrel and use a charge of air to drive it back. kind of like a reverse airsoft

There is just not enough room to hide all the servos/wires/control arms etc........ It will look like some Frankenstein contraction. Anyway, here is my first attempt at it.

It's Awesome great job like to see what you did i can't see any servo or anything

Thanks guys.
Airbrusher, the sub micro servo is on it side glued to the bottom of the barrel rail. The control arm is attached to the breech block if you look closely. I coloured everything dark yellow to hide the servo mechanism.
