PostSubject: Panzer IV   Sun Dec 29, 2013 4:54 pm

i haven't done much on it but i now over the shock of no power over the christmas break i figgered i would start this up

all clean out and ready for strengthening which i know isn't need but still its me who's driving it. debating if i want to keep the smoker or move the speaker there. either way i will need to put longer wires on the speaker

got the IR emitter ready to go in and if it doesn't work that great no biggy. there was a red LED the anyway and when i push the tube pass the barrel it seems to clear fine. i could always put it on top but it just wouldn't look as good

a little box for the spear wheel

I seem to have missed this thread! Sad

How goes the Panzer project? I briefly considered adding the spare wheel box to mine but decided against it. I cannot recall if the auf J had one.

Any ideas on the version you want?

Nice.

The only GLARING thing that HL got wrong is the gun mantlet. You may want to cut both sides of the forward shield off flush with the rest behind it. I'll see if I can find a picture...

You don't have to!
Just stick with the Strato method and never put in too much effort, hehe.
I just sawed off both sides flush and left it as is.

The Asiatam recoil unit is all wired up and ready to go and since i couldn't really find a good pic of how to wire it up in a HL i numbered and colour coded everything 8 wire harness. the only one i had troubles with was the 3rd wire(Green) which in this pic is piggy back onto the yellow wire that is also used for the lights

all primed and ready for the......wheels? ya i was looking at the suspension and since the company that made it intended to use machine screws to hold the wheels on and i got self tappers with it and the same with the metal wheels...........i dont like that. I will be getting machine screws for it if Brafasco can find the right size, if not then i'm off to a hobby shop to order some

i think i know what camo i will be doing for it but from what i can tell its from the west front and i was hoping to do something that would have seen the Russian before being captured and used unless you know of any other allies that would do this. Ausf H - XVIth Panzerdivision, Kursk, july 1943. its 15th from the bottom in the paint schemes for Panzer IV

i have tried using a 2.5mm screw but it still wiggles in the hole. I'm also going to use countersunk washers since they are just the right size to hole the wheels on as well as let the outer wheel slip on without binding

Well if 2.5 mm is too small try 3mm.use a tap first so you don't crack it. I do that a lot with my other RCs. 2.5mm taps are rare and expensive compared to a 3mm. Oh and use lube on the tap even though it's plastic.

Im guessing that is the metal suspension right?

On my PnzIV I didn't take any chances. I tapped every one to 3mm after drilling completely through to the inside of the suspension arm. I then used 3mm hex-head screws with small lock washers and it works great.

Trying to use those white-metal self tapping screws they give you is a nightmare. Half of them WILL break Sad

I agree with Michael, this tank looks so awesome with just the upper Schürzen. A project very soon...

You people are cruel! Don't listen to them Russell...

That is one heck of a long IR tube on that thing. Looks like a coaxial 50mm!

I got my parts i ordered today and..............i'm not happy with the winter tracks for the Panz IV. Both lengths are for the same side of the tank. I know it will still work but still i want it to look right. i will see what they say but i may not order anything from rctank.de again. should have ordered 2 sets for the panz III from a different site

Really ? Dominique is usually pretty good. Is it suppose to be like that or did you send you two right (left) tracks ?

As far as I know they are supposed to be left and right... Sad

Although I can't keep track of who's building what tracks these days, there used to be only one 'metal' brand Razz
