PostSubject: Re: Stince's KV-1 Build   Wed Jun 11, 2014 12:53 am

Tamiya makes a Dark Green paint with the code XF-61 which is recommend in the instruction manual for the KV,
but... they apparently also make a Dark Green II with the code XF-81.

Yesterday I painted the lower hull with the Dark Green (XF-61), but I ran out of paint.  So I got some new paint today, which to my bad hand writing got Dark Green II (XF-81).
Well... FRACK!!  Mad

The hobby store is closed by the time I realize it, and I won't be able to get to until Friday and I was hoping to have at least get a green coat of paint on it for the batteday.
So I said screw it and painted with the other green, if I don't like it I can over with the other paint next week, which shouldn't be a problem since it's a darker green.

Here is a picture of the lower hull in XF-61 and the upper with the first coat of XF-81.

After seeing paint on the upper hull, I'm thinking it might be a happy accident.  I think the light green will work better with what I have in mind and will also darken up some after some washes and weathering.

A pic of the upper hull with one coat of XF-81.

Here is the turret with a couple of coats of XF-81 on it.

IT'S ALIVE !!!!!  Twisted Evil  Bwahahaha!

Installed the electronics and hook everything up, she's ready to go for Saturday.
It still needs some cosmetic work, so it will have that factory fresh look for now.
