PostSubject: Thanks to everyone who came out to Oshawa!!!   Sun Jun 01, 2014 10:22 pm

First, I have to say to all who came out to Oshawa and supported the club, a great big thank you! For those of you who missed it make sure you mark your calendar for next year and don't miss this great event! THESE ARE OUR TANK PEOPLE!!! cheers

We could not have asked for better weather at all. I would estimate the crowd at around 800 to 1000 people overall. Pretty good for their first time putting this type of organized show on. As most of you know if this was U.S. or U.K. there would be 10,000 out.

The symbiosis of a live tank show, static displays, the tank part flea market, the AMPS model show (with 110 entries), a model vendors hanger, the museum, and of course us, went together great! We had A LOT of people all day and all our guys greeted the public and engaged with them very well. Actually too well!  Razz We had so much fun letting people try our tanks out, playing with the kids, (running over their hands was a big hit) discussing history and tanks, that we never got a chance to do any organized battles. If any of you that were there were disappointed by that, my apologies guys. Hopefully the interest people showed in your tanks made up for that.
A BIG thank you to everyone who let one of the public try out your tanks. sometimes it's hard to let go of that radio and I thank you for doing it.  Aye Aye  Aye Aye  Aye Aye

I especially want to thank Derek for all his hard work coming all the way from Windsor on Friday and helping me set up. I would have been dead if I had had to do it by myself. Special thanks too to Ed, Norma, and Russell for helping tear down and pack up.I must say too that I have new respect for Glen cutting the club field! It only too me 3 hours, 2 tanks of gas, and 3 massive piles of grass to do this field and it had just been cut! Very Happy

I will be very surprised if we don't get 4 or 5 new members out of this event. for those of you who are reading this who are the lurkers out there don't be shy! Come on out to a day in Fort Erie and see how we really work!

I have not talked to the museum people yet but I think they will be pleased having us there. We were a great attraction between the live shows for people and we kept the kids there fascinated while we did our thing. I have a plan for next year to be able to do some commentary while we run the tanks around a bit so we don't have to talk to one person at a time type of idea...

Anyway, here are some pics of the set up field,  my KV, Chris's Tiger just for fun, and the people around the tents when I got a moment to take a couple of snaps. If any one has other pics that you would like posted or want to show me please PM me and you can send them to me and I can put them up if you want or of course you can put them up your self to or provide a link to something like Jordan did..

Curtis with a captive audience!

The kids loved having the tanks run over their hands.
