I spent some time playing around with some low cost sound boards that can be purchased for less then $20 Can.  It took two cards to come up with engine sounds, battle damage and cannon fire.

I do know my way around Audicity, and you do have to manipulate and build sound files, but this is true of any programmable card.

This is a DIY project that I will share a tutorial on the Battle Armor website in a couple of weeks.  I am not selling these just showing how you can do this yourself.  You need a soldering iron and the ability to solder about 8 wires between the boards and the Heng long MFU.

So if you don't really care about IR battling and just want to have a tank that sound goods without shelling out a bunch of money this option may be something you are interested in.

I may supply sound files from my site with a donate button to make a little money off of this.

The example is of a Sherman file I made up.

Cheers

Dan
