Do you guys get rid of that space wasting battery box ? I just chopped it out of my HL walker , then moulded in new styrene  piece , my new 5000 battery now fits nicely on the side , with a ton of room for electronics , just copying my taigen tiger , hope this recruit did the right  thing , I have new hull in my shopping  cart from  mato if it's wrong ! Lol

Pretty common practice actually.......... I usually make sure that I am not damaging the integrity of the lower hull when I remove the box by keeping some of the side poles with side pieces and also gluing the battery box cover shut.

I also have some 5000mAh lipo that fits the battery box exactly other than the connectors, so I would keep the battery box and just open up the top a little so that the connector fits into the lower hull and the battery is flush in the battery box.

There are no mistakes with tanks! Only the occasional obstacle, or fires..

Fires ! sounds cool but costly , Lol , I'll be buying 2 more box stock tanks from mato , panzer IV f2 and a Sherman , the daughter is hooked on one , since my 2 tanks are still air soft , she sets up the red solo cups to shoot at with deadly aim ! Grrr , I suck at it , been talking to Dean over last few weeks , he gave me breakdown of electronics complete with apple , clarkboard , IR , etc , then visited Ian and his mind blowing collection , l left my 2016 membership money with Ian , I hope I can be an asset to black creek , I'm only few km away , with setups , organizing , etc , just tell me what to do , except latrine duty !

John, if your tank were Heng Long IR before you can re-use most of the parts. If not you will need to get the apples and the mount for sure.

In terms of mounts almost everyone has a different solution once you are past the Tamiya's and its price tag/availability. I think Airbrushler is going to be selling some mounts that will work with Tamiya apples and his own apples. You can always get the Heng Long set-up but will have to figure out a way for the Hit indicator LEDs.

I am mostly on Heng Long parts with some minor DIY mods myself which I would be more than happy to share. Others are using the Heng Long Apples with a Blue Ring solution from RCTA and Dean can tell you all about them.

Yep, you need lights to indicate hits, programming, The blue ring works nicely. You can also get HL mounts all over very cheap, easy to install as well. I will probably place an order for the blue rings  for myself at the same time I order the Clarks so anyone can tag along. The Clark boards come with an emitter so no issues there.

I also set fire (briefly) to my T-34... still works fine no damage! BECAUSE RUSSIA!

The HL Panzer IV is very robust and low-maintenance. It'll take a beating, and as I always recommend as a simple upgrade, try out the track tensioners. They might be trickier to fine for the PnzIV but Mato may carry some...

You'll really like the Sherman too, it's too bad all the 'new' HengLong 2.4ghz radio gear is crap Sad
