If you're change the the stock electronics then you will need a different radio. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

This will work nicely with Clark board. |

| Clark board is just an after market board for Heng Long/Taigen/Torro tanks mostly. It is a direct replacement for the RX-18/HL 2.4Ghz/Taigen 2.4Ghz MFUs. The main benefit is that it allows you to be IR compatible with Tamiyas which is our club standard.
It actually is compatible with Heng Long IR battle as well, but we don't really use that features. If you switch to Clark you will need a hobby grade radio like the one Airbrushler posted from Hobby King. Clark also has custom sound set for different type of tanks (i.e. T34 would be different than Tiger I), as well as servo support for recoil, elevation etc. |

| If you are happy with the stock electronics, there are cheaper solution to get your Heng Long IR tank to battle with Tamiya's battle system. RCTA sells a "translator" that will translate Heng Long IR signals to Tamiya's and vice versa. http://rctanksaustralia.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=17_58&products_id=217I think most of us upgrade for a couple of reasons, IR battle compatibility being one, but with upgraded boards (There are others, Clark being one of them) you get better sound, rid of the earth shattering track recoils, consolidate onto one radio for multiple tanks and of course hobby grade servo control for barrel recoil, elevation and rotation. In theory we can also set our Clark boards to receive and transmit Heng Long IR signals, so if someone like yourself shows up with a Heng Long IR (Which is rare by the way, most Heng Long shows up as BB and then get converted to IR) you can battle. The issue is that not all of us are on Clark, and the Tamiya's will not battle with Heng Long, period. |

| The so-called hull/track recoil is only a stock Heng Long thing, as you can turn it off or set various strength on the Clark board. I don't know if Tamiya has it but I am sure it is not to the same extend of the earth shattering proportion. The idea is to simulate the hull recoil when firing the main gun as in real tanks, except that Heng Long made it so strong that it basically rattles everything.
This is probably easier to discuss in person, but basically you CANNOT battle with us if you have a Heng Long IR tank. We only use the Tamiya Battle System, which means that you either have to have Tamiya electronics, or an upgraded board in your Heng Long/Taigen tank, like Clark, MAKO/ASP(RCTA), SLU (Older board but quite popular in the club), ELmod or IBU (Both of these are more European centric). |

| If you are looking for Tamiya this is the probably the best place for it. Unfortunately with the exchange it is a little higher now but even after shipping it will still be cheaper than retail in Canada. http://banzaihobby.com/radio-control/rc-tank-others/tamiya-1-16-rc-tankBoard upgrade means you will need new radio/receiver as well but even then it is still cheaper than a Tamiya. |
