| So does anyone have their favourite paint brands? As I stated awhile back, I'm just about to get back into modelling and found that my 15+ year old Tamiya paints were still good.
I am going to try my hand at airbrushing shortly so I ordered a bunch of Vallejo Air paints for military usage.. Anyone have recommendations of paints to stay away from? What to use for air application vs. brushes?
I've seen some of your tanks at Battleday and some of you guys are damned fine artists. (Doing weld details and scratch building historical accurate items was way beyond my ambitions 15-20 years ago...) |

| I use the $2 acrylic bottles from Micheals, I like the Folkart brand. They aren't PERFECT paints for airbrushing but they're cheap. I water them down about 50% or more if I get clogging issues. They tend to gunk up the needle and occasionally clog further into the nozzle. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| I'm gonna be trying the dollar store stuff.
I did some test colours on old models I still have laying around and it seems OK on the test runs. I am not sure how much I'm going to thin them out 30-50% probably 50%. _____________________________________________ HL Panther G, HL Early Tiger I

| I use Tamiya for the base colours, Humbrol for some of the oil stuff and valleo acrylics for some specific colours. All my washes and rusts, streaks etc are Mig Jimenez paints. My opinion tamiya is still the best for colours as they paint well and need little diluting with an easy clean up. Mig's stuff is incredible, especially his chipping and washes. so easy to use and the results are the same model to model. |
