Yup. His also comes with a full enclosed gearbox motor set. Supposedly a pair of 550 motors in there.

Wow... That's a pretty sweet (and pricey) looking lower. Especially from a newbie's PoV. I also question twisting any type of rod (aka torsion bar) as I would think that by imparting permanent deformation (versus elastic) you would severely shorten the lifespan of that rod. It may be a difference of 2 years of life vs. 10 years, all depending on usage and how much the deformation has stressed. It may still last the lifetime of the unit but it is still hardening the material which will reduce plastic deformation range and thereby increase fatigue susceptibility.

Either way it is way overkill for what we do....... My only regret is that the early production didn't have the quick release set-up so I am asking Eric from IMEX if I can get that separately and put it on myself.
It is a nice bottom, given that the moderns as Jordan said are seriously lacking in rigidity when it comes to the lower. I just fitted metal road wheels to the Chally and it is already flexing on the lower. Can't imagine when I put the metal tracks on.

Yea twisting torsion bars for "adjustment" should be done very sparingly..
I love the metal hulls, the Leopard one is just huge and therefore the cost rises. I prefer Taigen-type lowers.. hedges and trees are no longer obstacles

Does anyone install their own aluminum sheet into the chassis to remove flexing? I would think that epoxying a formed and sculpted sheet of 1.5mm aluminum into a hull would give huge bonuses to stiffness and flex (aka motor mounts and such).
Thinking of the HL Panzer IV that has only external mounted suspension and side wall flexing...

Yea that's been done, and Dean and I have both used a slow-curing casting resin / epoxy to stiffen up stock hulls and that works well.. if you plug all the leaky hulls very carefully. It's easier than cutting up and forming metal & takes slightly less room. Either option works.

I might just do that to the Chally as there is no opening for the suspension inside the hull, so nowhere to leak and ruin the suspension. It is almost like the Shermans, the entire road wheel assembly is separate from the hull.
If anyone is upgrading to the metal road wheels drop me a note, as I would have done mine a little different if I were to it again, as the metal road wheels comes with metal attachments to the hull that I am not too sure needs to be replaced as well. I did but it was alot of work.
TankArmy has a warning on the item on their website, but I didn't listen.

Hey Mike , as you seen in my M41 heng long , and I've been doing this to all my plastic lowers , I run a piece of .080 styrene just behind gearboxes , epoxied in with jb weld , then use an .060 or .080 piece to double plate bottom of hull after chopping out battery box completely, sounds like I'm adding a lot of weight but I'm not , and flexibility is almost down to 0 , all my switches I move up top anyways for convenience , I'll be dropping a HL tiger off to you next week , when I grab my pershing , to check it out
What HL Tiger ? I am away for the long weekend........

Anyone running one of these all metal lowers want to review? im on the fence about ordering one. Seems like a descent deal when all the metal bits and motors bought separately

You are correct it is quite a good deal if you factor in all the individual pieces. There is also a built in idler tensioner as well, and the gearbox is a nice upgrade with big motors. The only complain I have is that there is no locking mechanism to the upper hull so you are on your own. If I were to get one now I would probably get the one from rctank.de which appears to be the same lower, but have a locking mechanism for the upper. However it does cost more.

For what my 2 cents are worth (About $3) rctank.de is probably my favourite vendor, and from my experiences with their products & Taigen's stuff you really can't go wrong.
