Ive had a long standing interest in these aircraft, and through various forums and a couple contacts, it seems as though a couple flight training unit`s may actually be starting up in Ontario relatively soon! In the next couple weekends, I may get my first flight too, yeehaw!
Time for some crazy, snake-dropping fun times!

is it safe? It isn't like fixed wing plane. If this one loses power, it will fall like a stone.

Actually they`re always in autorotation, so the main rotor isn`t powered at all. If you lose the engine, you`re already in parachute mode, you have a very controlled and gentle descent back to earth
They`re actually much safer & docile than fixed wing, and also more maneuverable

Every time I see those Gyro-copters they make me think of the early attempts at flying.
Maybe you can take you can take Tetris up with you and can do some sky diving!

Hah! I might actually be going up this weekend if time & weather permit!
Anyway, yes they ARE very stable machines, and I'm more inclined to feel safe flying them than I would a single engine light plane, or a light heli.. and I'm an aircraft maintenance engineer... I know these things
Anyway this is one of my favourite in-flight videos. You get a good sense of their operation and get a simple play-by-play from engine start through prerotation (spins up the main rotors on the ground to reduce takeoff roll), and flight.
