That is some crazy detail. Are you planning to run this work of art on a battle field?
If so I hope you have a lot of spare parts.
Thanks you sir!

I do plan on running the tank but hopefully in a realistic manner and speed. That is why most all of the fragile detail are made of brass and soldered using silver based solder.

I will not be doing an tank battles, running just for my entertainment and maybe to show off a little.

Are you hand crafting all that brass? What are you using for the soldering of the components?
Also what are those bolts that are used (the bent ones)?

Yes sir, the brass work is sheet, angles, channels, tubes, etc.... all shaped and assembled. I have built all most as many tooling and holding fixtures are I have parts.

Here's a pic of my soldering equipment and types of solder I use.

The bolts are the former Scale Hardware line it is now available here:

https://model-motorcars.myshopify.com/collections/small-parts-hardware

The ones pictured are from the "simulated" line w/o threads. They are bent just to stay temporarily in place. The upper portion of the shield swing up to allow for the replacement  of the armored glass.

Thanks Michael,

1/16" scale is almost a perfect scale, it allows for details down to 1/8" w/o too mush anxiety.
Many of the standard sized materials both styrene and brass are available in nearly perfect 1/16" sizes.

When I first started I looked into a 1/6 Abrams and the $$$$$ said NO!
I have the Dragon 1/6 Sherman that I "plan" to use to build a USMC M4A2.
I have all the East Coast Armory, Armorpax and Stryker Workshop upgrades to make a nicely detailed, fully functional M4A2. Very Happy

But I think I am going to build the new Tamiya M551 next, I think.  Cool

That is a huge attention to detail on the remote M2 mount...
I do find it interesting however... There is a spot for both the crewman's M4 Carbine and a handheld spotlight in the shielded cupola, but no manual controls for the M2 itself...

With the amount of fine detail, you must have a plethora of dremels and fine files...

Hi Jarlath,

You are correct about the lack of manual operation. I have endeavored to learn more about the actual controls but have been unable to.

Only one dremel but many, many, many files!

Your brass work is about the best I have ever seen Barry, it will be a shame to paint over it!!!
