We must be on the same wavelength. Its been out for a while but I just talked to rctank.de and they will do shipping included to Canada for 541 euro which is cheaper than TankZone. Tankzone is more expensive to begin with (529 pounds vs 549 euro) but TankZone also don't file VAT exemption on your behalf. Dom at rctank.de would file for VAT exemption for anything over 50 euro, so usually the VAT (which is 19% !!!!) would roughly equal to the shipping so what you see on rctank.de is basically including shipping after the VAT.
In this case I guess the VAT is even more than shipping (The box is over 1m long and weights 14kg).
I really like the Pro Boat Alpha Patrol Boat and just found a place to run it (The pool in my building which no one uses !) so might have to get this one too and get a dummy plastic Sherman for it just in case.

Ordered........Now I need a dummy plastic Sherman to put on it. I think a metal one might sink this baby. There doesn't seem to be any kind of water proofing at the ramp.
On the otherhand it would be cool to get the Sherman to drive off the boat by itself. We should see.

Even on the real one there wasn't any... It was never meant for rough water landings... They had a bilge pump to pump out excess water from the "deck" of the cargo/transport area.
There is a "nose" on the front of the landing ramp that pins the landing craft in place as the vehicle enters or leaves the belly of the LCM. It also prevents the front of the craft from dipping into the water.

Mike, it wan't tip, the ramp is resting on the ground when disembarking.

The LCM design was to push into the beach/landing area at some speed (Since it was loaded). That is why it has that long, low angle, slope to the front of the hull. Once "beached", they drop the front ramp.
As the tank drove out from the lowered center portion of the cargo hold the shift in mass causes the bow of the boat to have greater contact into the ground while lifting the stern up in the water, akin to rolling the boat along the ground. That small protrusion prevented the LCM from backing out while the mass shifted from the lowered portion of the cargo area over the ramp. Once the tank was gone the vessel balanced again, ad was now higher up in the water and could retreat back from the shore (aka un-beaching itself).
Oh. An FYI. The Sherman tank's mass was approx. 30 tonnes at the time. 1 tonne of water is 1000L (1 cubic meter of water). That is 30 cubic metres of displacement.
The LCM-3's hold was 3m wide, 7.5m long (3m flat then slope the rest of the way, up to the front flat portion) and 1m deep. The best that water could do is roughly 22.5 cubic meters of to fill up the cargo hold to the front ramp. That means that even if the hold was full of water it would be higher up in the water than with a tank...

Well here is a video of it trying to unload on a rock........ You can see they skip the actual unloading of the Sherman. I am sure it was in the water for a little bit. There was also water going into the LCM as well.

Finally have a chance to sneak down to the pool and run this baby with and without a Tamiya Sherman M4A3E8 (my Fury). You can see the speed difference with and without. Also this thing drives like a whale and couple of discarded videos has it crashing all over the place........ This is for Tom as he asked me about it last time !
