2 speed gearbox (servo control) upgrade for the original WPL 6x6. Same 2 speed gearbox and metal transfer rod upgrade for my Katyusha which has the identical chassis as the MAN 6x6:

Is this better torque?

The metal drive shafts allow for a longer center length which reduces the driveline angle (angle between the U-Joints) which lessens the U-Joint loads under torque. With a two speed transmission, you get a lower speed available with more torque.
The axle differentials will be the weakest link as they see the highest torque.

That's the theory anyway, but I have not try it out yet. The gearbox I think definitely will help, since it looks like it is different sets of gears and not just a reduction on motor speed (electronically) like the new Ural truck offering which I also have and is a completely different chassis anyway. The metal transfer shafts does make the driveline more straight.

BTW the 2 speed motor is a upgraded 280 motor also.

Youtube video. Mine is a little different as the servo uses a spring loaded rod for gear change and the servo is a push type rather than pull.
