| When doing an install of an IR system, the IR is placed inside a sleeve/barrel so that it doesn't bounce all over the place, yes, this I know. How far, depth wise, it the IR Bulb supposed to be from the end of the IR sleeve/barrel. I heard a few different figures being talked about. Any help would be appreciated.

| I use the 1/4"tube, 0.25"diameter (6.3 mm) Evergreen Models Item No. 228; full designation on the package.
I understand the tip of the emitter must be recessed 9 mm
Some of mine are 10 mm, there doesn't seem to be a problem with that. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| I'm assuming you are saying the ID is 1/4". I'm sure I have some of that pipe down stairs. Thanks Glen. _____________________________________________ My Tanks <<== Click hereCan-Am Tank Club <<< Web site linkTiger I | King Tiger | Panther G | PzIII | PzIV | Stug IV | SturmTiger | Pershing/Howitzer | M16 Halftrack | M26 Super Pershing | M48 Patton | M41 Bulldog | Gepard | Leopard | KV-1 | KV-2 |T-34 | |

| I tested my IR bean and found even at 9 to 10 mm the angle of fire was about 30 degrees ! that seems pretty wide spread . Is there a beam spread rule? |

| From the resources of the SLU FAQ section; Can I mount the IR emitter in the mantlet?Yes. See the following pics on how I mounted my IR emitter in my Panther's mantlet. I mounted the emitter in a plastic tube with the tip of the emitter recessed 9mm from the opening of the tube. This gives the IR beam a tight pattern vs a shot gun light spray. The 9mm recess is widely recognized as the IR battling standard, but check with your local club first. I then drilled out the airsoft light from the mantlet and glued the tube in place. Next I drilled a hole next to the receiver and ran the emitter wire through it and plugged it into the receiver. Be sure that the wire does not block any of the IR receivers. I find that this is often because of testing indoors; outside you wont run into the 30 degree spread so much _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

I find that this is often because of testing indoors; outside you wont run into the 30 degree spread so much I agree. I also found that if you fire a shot in the garage you can get the beam to deflect off the metal garage door for some nice trick shots. But you have to be careful because you can hit yourself. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger
