| I had to find my old KV-2 thread to make sure this went into the Allied section... Anyhoo, it's been awhile. Many of you remember some of the hulks I've built *set fire to* over the years, and finally the urge hit. So here we go. I'm going to be cheating and taking the lazy route whenever possible, so I left the hull applique' armor intact and I will NOT be converting this to a cast turret version.. no thank you. I repositioned the rear-view periscopes to be more correct as Heng Long set them about a scale foot from the edge of the roof.. not very useful there. Full Taigen metal lower hull, running gear, tracks & steel gearboxes w/ bearings. I fear no trees. Those of us who remember my 18lb KV-2 roaring at full speed in your direction will know the feeling... I'll try for captions and chronological order. Click for full sized image.
- Removed stock Heng Long KV turret armor, patched the holes and used drywall filler for a nice smooth exterior.
- Cutting access hatches and installed metal replacements.
- New metal hatches, and turret modifications bringing it up to a cleaner, German standard. Forward periscopes removed.
- Recoil kit from Dean & Chris, first time I've installed one of these and it's REALLY nice. I like the spring especially.
- KV TK-22 & upgraded sound system, so far so good. Nice and loud.
- Recoil mechanism installed and primer applied. I'm still waiting for the German 7.5cm KwK 40 L/43 from Dominique @ Rctank.de, and mantlet.
The goal: _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

Nice! Yea I was looking around at different variants I could build off a KV chassis.. KV-85 etc, and I came across this version and remember it from War Thunder. Some parts arrived from Australia & Germany today (we are a global market!), so I can continue work on the turret and gun soon _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Nice track tension! Is that the same gun in the PZ4? Interesting 3 ton truck with a crane in the background. _____________________________________________ You may be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you dance with the reaper! - Death

Interesting 3 ton truck with a crane in the background. KV-1 with a 7.5cm KwK 40 L/43 (Early 75mm on the PZ-IV, was later replaced with the 7.5cm KwK 40 L/48 for better shell velocity/penetration) |

| I always liked how that track looks on a KV; upon closer inspection you can see that the track is split just ahead of the drive sprocket which would explain this Still, I have no idea if this tank ever saw action or was anything more than a 'make work' project for the engineer depot boys. Still, it looks really awesome _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Taigen metal tracks. Running great right out of the box, loosened the idler tension to about 'half way' and we're good. All primer'd up and nowhere to go.. It's nice to have this much room to work with... Taigen 4:1 gearboxes. In my experience you can't go wrong with these; affordable, robust, low maintenance. This is mostly a stock Panzer 4 long-barreled manlet, with just a few trims here and there it fits nicely and isn't a pain to remove for maintenance. Trimmed with a bandsaw and then roughed up with a file for that quickly cut with a torch look. I've got lots of elevation with this setup, but I think I'll need to adjust for more depression. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Got some painting in! After a quick touch up of primer (Canadian Tire rattle can marked PRIMER, seems legit), I mixed my cheap acrylics Yellow Ochre and True Brown by eyeball to get my desired personal version of DunkelGelb. A master's touch, I tell ya. I found that mixing in a plastic bottle, in my case film canisters, and then pouring that out through some sort of filter really helps with preventing my airbrush from clogging up. I used cotton musket cleaning patches. I did the entire Gelb base coat with several refills of my airbrush without any clogging or cleaning required. By the time I got to the brown camo, though, it was really suffering. Older paint I guess, it didn't want to flow. I'll do some of my regular detailing as time permits, which usually consists of taking a sharp pencil and making paint chips, wear and tear, all sorts of cool effects. Then a top sealer coat of some kind. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Thanks Dean for the parts!! The Panzer 3-4 metal cupola from Rdtank.de conveniently splits radially so installing the Clark base wasn't hard at all. I trimmed some plastic PC-board spacers to the right height and CA glued everything together. It works! _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Battle system complete. I have created a monster. Enjoy Infrared light visible! Drivers hatch provides access to the power switch. Since I like this paint job so much the emitter is easily removable if required _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT
