| Just recently got into RC tanks because of my gf.. She bought me a HL Abrams tank.. couple of days later I found out that there's RC IR battle. About a month later I have 4 HL tanks.. 3 of them are HL 6.0 and 2 currently have metal sprockets and tracks. Hoping to get those metal parts for my King Tiger in the near future. |

| Are there still any meetups going on? And where's the best place to try my tanks around the GTA area? |

| Welcome. Currently meetups are far and few in-between due to the COVID restrictions. We will be hopefully starting to be able to schedule our battledays once again. There are currently two fields. Waterloo & Mississauga https://can-amrctankclub.com/battlefields/ |

| I do not know what the current status of either battlefield is.
Hach? Status of AFV? Access and attending the park?
Dean? I know that the field is not open for battles yet (Needs to be prepped), but has the club grounds opened up? |

| Welcome FLP. You won't be able to battle with HL 6.0 electronics as the club standard is Tamiya based battle standard. I think HL 6.0 is suppose to be compatible but not really in reality. |

| Wow Kevin is still selling Mako and now is 6.0. Nice. It is definitely worth a look at now that HL 6.1 is half decent and if you got a HL tank it is already part of the package. |

| So if I buy that board.. can I still use the same apple/mushroom that came with HL tanks? Or do I need to get the Tamiya IR apple/mushroom? |

| You can use the apple/mushroom from the HL. Be aware that the HL systems can be very limited compared to the Tamiya ones. (IR range for hitting can be low, and being hit can be high.) |

| My experience has been the opposite. I can't hit them and they seem to be able to hit everything else. Hanging around the Mississauga crowd too much......... :-) |

| I'll defer to MikeC. The question however is if the MAKO 6.0 board makes it on the same wavelength for the Tamiya IR battle.

| Mako is not a good system for proper IR tank battles... You cant hit them and they usually can hit you I do not think as a group we should not recommend that system. Too many people at the Mississauga field have it and it just creates problems for people. Do not wast your money on the Mako system, is what I would suggest. But bring your tanks out and drive them around, see what people are doing. _____________________________________________ The Great Pan-Tiger |

| Welcome to the wonderful world of rc tanking. I have to agree with Captain Action, unless HL has made significant improvements in Tamiya compatibility your battle field enjoyment will be be limited. I started trying to modify HL systems using Mako boards which only lead to frustrations and pissing away my hard earned CPP money. If you really want to get the most enjoyment from a battle, sending and taking hits, get yourself a true Tamiya compatible tank system. My two cents worth. |
