| That looks like a old Heng Long board. Are you using lipos ? Probably the motor drew too much power and shorted the EMC and then proceed to melt the wires. If you open up the casing you should see burnt marks on the EMC.
What motor are you using ? Upgraded ones I assume ? (red or blue cams ?).

Is it set-up for two motors for turning or is it motorized rudder ? Either way I think the drive motor overloaded. My LCM-3 is also available......

My Tango can steer by motors or rudder (use HL tank elevation). When use motors I turn off rudder.

You should just get a proper twin motor ESC and maybe a single smaller amp ESC for the rudder motor. Boat motor can run much higher revs as there is much less resistance than the gearbox and HL is not gear for that. No pun intended.

HL MFU's that use JST connectors really can only handle 3A continuous at best. They can handle 10A for a short time, that is limit with the connection! A typical 380 motor draws on average 2-3A at full speed with very minor loads (aka running a tank at full speed w/o drag). This a HL tank can do on a regular basis. AT full load (jammed tracks) the motor will stall and draw 5+A. Running in water is near full load all the time... So motor will heat up as well. HL Boats have twin 380 motors with "heat sink fins" and a dedicated ESC which will have at least 10A capacity per motor. Add in all the extra mass of the boat and using the opposing direction motors/propellers to turn the boat...
