| 1. I have black motors in my all metal Taigen Panther F. Would the black motors that I have, (4) from Glen B, be comparable? The 2 Tigers I got are Taigen (metal lower but plastic upper). How can I tell without tearing a tank apart, replacing the motors and tacking the speed? 2. I have a set of 2 brass gearboxes plus extra brass gears. Are these any good? 3. Also, I have several SLU's, which I can feel everyone cringing now, along with some ESC's. I hesitate to trash these since I do have 2 tanks with SLU's which I would use just for the fun of it. I also have an instructional DVD which goes through each item quite thoroughly on how to setup and program the SLU. Thanks guys _____________________________________________ Being new to this hobby, I am meeting a super group of people willing to share their knowledge and assistance. _____________________________________________________________________________ |

| I use a SLU and it works fine... The brass gears that you may have are good for tork in a heavy tank but may be slow, I put a set in my King Tiger, yes it is slower but runs good . _____________________________________________ The Great Pan-Tiger |

| The Black motors are usually a Taigen thing, but will also depend on the capacitors that are on them. Later ones from Taigen have Surface mount versions that are located on a Printed Circuit Board.
Brass gearboxes are usually geared for more torque, but if older the bushings are not great. I am trying to cobble a two pairs of MATO gearboxes together to have one set that is not squealing... Higher gear ratios can mean more gearbox nose as well. If you are selling, I'd be interested in the gearboxes for my heavier tanks (10kg KV-1, etc...)
SLU were the best available nearly a decade ago. They were however more complicated than a Clark TK-20 for function controls (did more, but more complicated). A good radio was a must as well. |
