Hi all,

My name is Ross and I'm new to these forums and the RC hobby, but I'm currently building my first RC tank (Tamiya Tiger 1 Tiki scheme), and hopefully I can join you guys in an upcoming battle day. I live in Brantford, so it's not too far away.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that I'm really enjoying this club atmosphere, you seem like a good bunch.

Hi Ross,

Welcome to the club. Yes, they are a good bunch of guys. I've been with them for 2 years now and the Battledays are worth the 4 hour drive.

If you ever need a lift to a Battleday I might be able to help. I drive though Brantford on my from Windsor.
I also spent 2 years there for College, so I know some of the roads.

We don't have many Tamiyas in the club, but if you have question we are willing to help. And like to see pictures. Very Happy

Derek

Thanks Derek. What battle system do you guys use? Is it okay to get the Tamiya one?

I've been taking a bunch of pics already. I'll post them when I get a bit farther along. Right now I'm priming all of the wheels....and running out of primer lol.

Yes the Tamiya battle system will interact with the systems we are running.

Interesting markings.

Do you have some pictures of "Tiki" ? If you need some, I can send you some scans of the one's I have.

Don't worry, I have not built that particular tank, nor had I planned on it, you'll have the only one at the Can Am Wink

I am working on a Taigen Tiger I, late, soon to look like this;

I may make up a Das Reich running mate of Tiki's for my next one, No. 823

Thanks all,

Yes, I've been researching it for a few weeks. Probably what I love most about model building. I'm just not used to working in such a large size. I'm probably going to end up using all of my paint supply :-).

The only thing I can't seem to find is a good shot of is the right side or the top. I bought the decals, so hopefully it will come with some sort of reference. However, I'll probably end up painting on most of the markings and add my own touches.

I was looking at 823 as well. Really cool tank.

Here are the pics I'm working towards. However, the real tank doesn't have the exhaust sheilds on it.

Ahhh, the Panzer corps is getting some reinforcements... nice!

You'll find the Tammy battle system fits in perfectly with the rest of us. I think we still have a majority using the SLU, but we have many DBC's and a couple Clark systems in use, and a couple Tamiya's.

HI Adman, I don't know if this helps much, but I found it in a book of mine.

FYI a coating of paint on the tracks will also help to keep the track pins from working themselves out .

Good tip, thanks!

I'm experimenting with paint, washes and pigments at the moment. It's seeming to net good results, but I'll have to put a good amount of clear on there to make it durable.
