| I'm in the full swing of practicing airbrush technique. I've noticed a couple issues. #1. Splatter and/or extra paint coming out when I go to close the paint flow. Example= when I make dots the dot is actually made when I let go of the paint trigger and the needle is pushing out paint as it closes making the dot on the closing motion. For the splattering prob I wonder if I am thin enough? Just eyeball it? I think I will also invest in some airbrush thinner as the thinner I currently have doesn't seem to want to mix with the acrylic paint. (been using primarily water instead)
#2. A bit more troublesome. It seems my flow to the paper is not correct. The stream seems to veer slightly to one side. The needle is straight. I did however notice that the needle is off to one side of the tip opening. (causing my problem) I believe that the housing is not aligned properly. Any suggestion? I know you can remove the tip but risk bending the needle if u hit something.
Even practice has been fun. Needlessly to say I am hooked. |

| What brand of paints are you using? I just screwed around with Tamiya today and found that a 40\60 mix of thinner & Paint fix's the bloches. _____________________________________________ |

| you must have a double action airbrush ...i don't like them much i have one i hardly use it but i mostly use a Paashe H single action they work great not hard to clean i was going to start a post on airbrushes i will in a bit are you letting go of the triggr that will force any paint in front of the needle out when letting go of the trigger just pull back to your desired spray when done don't let go of the trigger move the airbrush away spatter may be caused by thick paint most acrylics are water based i use the dollar store paint i thin with water all the time what does your paint suggest that you use? _____________________________________________ |

| Just my quick 2 cents... I have 3 Badgers. The 150 is awesome I have used it for 30 years. I just got it back from from Badger factory last year where they fixed and tuned it up and shipped it back to me for FREE. I agree with airbrusher, I have a double action, not much fun and I find it tough to be consistent with it. Right off the hop may I suggest you use pure rubbing alcohol ( Isopropyl alcohol get it for a couple of bucks at a drug store)as the thinning agent for Tamyia acrylics. VERY inexpensive and you will get better results I promise. This is what Tamyia thinner actually is! Since it evaporates so quickly it will be almost dry when it hits your target. The mix should be the consistancy of milk. Most guys make the mistake of running it too thick and trying to achieve their finish in one shot. Be patient and do light thin coats of colour. The last point I will bring up is pressure. I run my regulator at 14 lbs. You need nice even pressure for these brushes to run properly. To give you an idea U can spray a 1/16" line with nice even tone and colour and no splatter. Practice and watch your angle to the target! Hope this helps! And airbrush, what the hell movie is that clip from? I don't think it is Czech Tank Brigade made in the 50's like someone said. _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." | I'd like to share my story about where my air brush and pump came from. I was invited to show my tanks at East Coast hobby show. At the end of the first day, I carried by two tanks walking out and saw an air brush booth on the way out. I was using Tamiya single action unit for a while. i stopped and chated with the owner. He asked me what i use air brush for. I show him my tanks. He said that was the best tanks he ever seen. Then he started to introduce me about his products. he show me an double action air brush, SOTA, he said if i can guess what it mean, it is free for me. I did not guess right. so not free, then he told me he will sell it for $100, it retail for $350, becuase he want partially sponsor me. he told me that air brush can do hair line thin. I did not believe him. I told him i will come back tomorrow. I do not have much cash on me any way. I went back and did some research, it was the top of the line, many air brush artists were using it. So I brought $100 next day. He said sorry. He told me he sold that one last night. He told me that he would send me a super silent pump for free if i pay him now for the air brush. I probably showed my doubt. He took a business card, he was the president of badger air brush, Ken. I paid him and had long nice talk. He asked me to send him some of my tank picture once for a while for his web site. By the end of the next week, i received my double action sota and pump. It was great doing detailing, but it was too slow doing big area such as covering tank. I called him. He sent me another model for free and whole line of weathering acrylic. I had my perfect combo. lots of fun. Double action is hard to master, but once you learnt it, you will never go back to single action. Ken also introduced me to Mr. Tamiya. that is another story. |

| The airbrush is double action. I also ordered some acrylic thinner. I'm thinking it will do better. I'm also going to play ratios, I.e. adding much more water and seeing what plays out. Also looking into a single action airbrush to play with and see which I like better. _____________________________________________ My Tanks = HL PzIII, HL KV-1, Tamiya Leopard (unbuilt)

| Alcohol should work with any acrylic... but mainly it's better because of how fast it evaporates... and it doesn't bead up like water does. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT
