| Hi all. Thought I'd start a little photo record of my progress. This is my first RC tank, but I've been model building for a number of years. I'm still trying to get my head around 1/16 scale, and all of the wires, but it's going good so far. Any Tips/tricks are more than welcome. Here we go. First step. I always start with the wheels...and use the box for a painting surface Painted: And put together: Next was the hull and suspension: Some bits...Tiki didn't have any guards on the exhaust and the crank was horizontal. I also primed the hull to make sure all of the extra holes were covered up. Here's the front...Tiki had two holes above the drivers lookout. I'm assuming it was for the driver to see if the lookout was closed, since he didn't have panzer glass on his hatch. The radio operator did though. Weird. Now for some photo etching fun...well actually it was a major pain in the butt...blahh. It's secured with a cocktail of superglue, cigar box nails, and contact cement. It shouldn't go anywhere. Here's the other side and Tiki's messed up fender. Here's the bottom...the big bolts are for the engine strut brace. Hopefully I can find some hex bolts to match the rest. Here's the strut brace I've also added some idler support Engines are in...I have some 400's from Immortal Hobbies, but I'm saving those for later. The turret is pretty much done. Including the battle system (Not in pics). Don't shoot me. Wheels are on. You can see the beginnings of the Tiki camouflage. Panzer grey with dark yellow. I couldn't help loosely putting it together. Lots of detail work to do still...stay tuned. |

| Thx :-)
I didn't realize Tamiya kits were such a sticking point when I decided to get into the hobby. I've always admired them growing up, and had the opportunity to grab one. However, when i finally did my reaserch I was kind of blown away with all of the other choices out there, and what people were doing with pre built kits.
I did the detailing. The photo etched parts come as flat peices of brass really, and require bending into shape. The bolts are cigar box nails I found in Canadian tire. The fender kit does come with its own "bolts", but they need to be soldered into place and won't give me durability I'll need. |

| First coat was a mix of three colours....Buff, Flat Brown and German grey.
Next was a future coat, then a dark brown wash, then three colours of pigment...Mig mud, a really dark brown and another light brown.
Then some graphite for the top, where the rubber meets the road :-).
I put about 4 coats of flat clear to finish it off.
There's a really good article in "The weathering magazine"...dust & earth issue. I pretty much followed that. |

| LOL. I think if I did that I wouldn't be here to tell you about it.
Painting in the hobby room, pictures in the kitchen. :-)
Thanks for the comments. It has been super fun so far. Can't wait to get the washes and weathering started. Hopefully I'll have the tank together and the decals on for the meet. |

| I missed the last update! Turret looks great, you're doing very good work on the weathering, I like it. So here's my question, and I don't know if it's been asked.. how do you get that kind of speed from a Tiger?? What's up there? _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT
