| So I was checking out RCU and came across this thead: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11514544/tm.htm...concerning a specific battle weekend with 'strict' rules, most of which make sense, like no swing shots. ...while others are blatantly there to make sure your tank is a Tamiya; at least that's the feeling I got. If I was local I'd make a point of getting one of my Clark's up to their 'standards' just to see how it does. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| I like the scale speed and lack of fan shots.
However, it is a fine line to walk, if the requirements are too exclusive, a club could really narrow down their list of participants. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| On a field like Dannville, these things makes sense. It's nearly impossible to fan shot on grass effectively here.
What gets me is you need to have a Tammy emitter. Have you seen Danville? Where are the long range shots? It's all islands and bushes, most battles Ive watched are very close quarters.
Im curious about the tank that was 'nuking' people at 22' away, despite the 45 degree defense!! _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

What gets me is you need to have a Tammy emitter! Well, from the recent posts I have read, my impression is that they are pretty Tamiya-centred, there. I have thought of going some day but the comments I have read concerning non-Tamiya tanks has reduced my interest. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| No surprise. This was big fighter among founders of RCAN and different clubs. The very first people, Dick, Jake and Kiven all left the hobby because of the fight. It is competition for them, not for fun. So everything have to be "fair". They use tamiya, so you have to use tamiya, with gear reduction. |

| see? know what i meant, you got to test them all, then you can say which one is beter, 5 versions: 1. remote control version. 2. rc version with gearbox with two option, two motor drive as one or two motro drive two tracks, 3. computerized sherman, cheap gearbox tho. 4. two gearboxes with dmd, 5, full option one, latest with 4 version of gearbox, one version you can set the reduction rate. |

| I am hoping we don't go down the T vs everything else route, here on the Can Am Forum.
Recently, it has been done all too frequently on RCU; which is one of several reasons why I choose not to be very active there, these days.
Everyone has their many different reasons for using whatever it is they use, IMHO, if they enjoy whatever they use, that should be enough and we should not make judgement on other's choices (whatever they are).
They are all just toy tanks and I think we got into this because it was supposed to be fun, I know in my case, if it ceases to be fun, I have two other, different, somewhat expensive hobbies that I am involved with, competing for time and funds.
A general comment
People come to the Can Am RC Tank Club who are at various stages of development/experience in the hobby, members have differing financial resources, preferences and requirements. Some of us showed up with that first, "fresh out of the box" HL and were encouraged to run it around the field between IR battles. I hope this atmosphere continues.
My hope for the Can Am is that it remains a group that focuses on fun and that people can bring their Tamiya, Hooben, HL, Taigen etc. out, enjoy themselves and not be made to feel bad or argue about their choice, whatever it may be. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| To some people, be competitive is fun. One time, i went to Danville, Kevin, who is the founder of RCCAN, my friend as well, told me i could not compete because i installed the apple at the loader postion. i asked him, what? i drove 7 hours, you told me i could not play? i have to fix the direction of the apple. We had discussion about the speed reduction and checking how many time a tank can get a hit before battle, i told him that you should check after because people can take the apple off after you check, their tank can battle forever, so after each team win, let the winner left the tank on the ground, then use one tank to check those tank can die or not. he listened. any way, he eventually could not stay there as a leader because he is toooooo serious about this. he is a super nice guy, i miss those days. i still have a 1/6 german motor cycle that Dick left there. Too many people tried to cheat, that was why kevin invented those rules, to be fair. |

| Negaduck yes but you have to agree that there is something wrong with your boards. Go to the Tam USA site and see if they will help or put you in touch with someone that will. Its unfortunate but all companies make a lemon once in a while. Let me know when and how I can help you make the lemonade, I got your 6. |
