Don't tell everyone!
It's fine with me as is, but maybe one day.

Soooo I got a little work done..
Lot's of presents in the mail lately, I got my new ausf G barrel, some cables, a metal bucket (everyone needs one), and some smoke launchers!!
I installed the IR emitter using a spare SLU bulb I had, works fine when I tested it with a digital camera. Mounted on the side of the manlet, which I've cut down to normal size (Thank you Hulu), as this new barrel is very thin I had no room for it inside. Looks good to me still.
Ah yes, the Schurzen are all held on by magnets so I can easily remove them, both the sides and turret. This way I can theoretically switch between a "mid" G with smoke launchers, to a "middle late" G, with skirts, no smoke launchers but still a 2 piece hatch... very sneaky.

I painted the 9th Panzer Division's marking on the turret skirts, free hand, so I'm sticking with that unit! They have one of the more interesting divisional histories, and it fits the make / look of my tank for June 1944-ish.
Installed the barrel LED that comes with the Clark wiring package, it's pretty small but it fit snugly in the tight barrel. A regular 4-5mm LED would NOT fit in there... the 2 wires are tight inside the barrel.

Got some metal parts from Curtis today.
The Mato tracks are closed-pin and seem very tough, very strong. They're stiff as heck but they'll get broken in ASAP, no worries there.
The metal drive sprockets needed some internal dremel grinding to get them to sit nicely on the Taigen drive shafts. Probably a matter of Taigan shafts being too big, but it wasn't hard to fix and they fit perfectly now. Also the plastic 'final drive' cover of the plastic hull needed to be sanded back, as it was rubbing tightly against the sprocket. Fixed now.
I also ordered a set of P4 metal wheels, and here's where I'm stumped. How the heck do you install these things? There are parts here that I haven't a clue where to put them... The plastic wheels are secured with a coarse thread screw into the plastic suspension.. These wheels look like they're build to take bearings. Any thoughts?
What are those things? There are 2 different kinds, 8x each of them. They dont fit together..
Nice idlers. Fit directly on the HL mount, no mods required.
Nice sprockets!

Nevermind, I'm just REALLY tired.. they're return rollers...
Turns out I really need some sleep, hehe... I'm posting WAY too much for a Friday morning.. *yawn*
The suspension stop-blocks are rubbing against the rubber on the tires, so I'll have to file those down a little later.

Soooo a few hours after getting my new airbrush & compressor, I managed this. The biggest issue I had was my brush getting clogged up.. only when I was using Yellow... so I suspect that bottle of acrylic had chunks of paint in it. When clear it actually sprays very nicely, I'm really impressed with how the pre-shading came through.
I see a lot of painting in my future.

Lovely, another Panzer, I'm in a finishing stages of weathering mine. We should have a Panzer down contest. Cheers.

Phew! What an adventure.. so I painted all the accessories black, and for now it seems pretty good. Did some very light weather with the airbrush mostly underneath, a nice earthy brown, highlighting the tracks and areas where dust will kick up a lot. Not sure if the video captures a lot of that but I'm happy with the in person look.

Thanks I've missed working on it, always been a good runner and solid as heck. The lighter colour really brings out the detail I'm happy with the change.

Looks great . To me the IV's are like the sports version of the Panzers . Your video inspired me to drag mine out for a run only to discover I still hadn't swapped out those die cast gears I stripped in the summer. Bummer I'll just watch your video again

Now I'm on the fence about weathering and paint damage or chipping. I think I'll leave is for now, I've added a tiny bit of dark brown along portions of the running gear, tracks, fenders and rear deck area where dust would likely kick up from the sand.
Incoming detail pics

Same old. Ditched the schurzen for now, might eventually add a proper kit. Nearly 100% cosmetic.
