| Hello, so as I can figure out how to post some pictures this will be updated, for now I have 1 big question and 1 smaller 1 Big 1.. How do I get the tracks off?.... I would like to paint the hull but I am having difficulty figuring out how to get them off. Smaller 1... I believe that I will need an emitter tube suggestions on what I can use as I would like to make sure I am not killing the entire battle field. And build pics to follow! |

| Capp,
Easiest would be to take the drive sprockets off with a hex key.

| Ok, ummm, is it usually covered by a hub cap? I don't want to try and take it off if it is not supposed to come off. [img] [/img] |

| The caps do pry off with a thin bladed tool like an Exacto chisel blade. I have made up small punches to drive the rack pins out. It is an Allen, 3mm on the Taigen, I believe.
I use a stock styrene tube form a hobby shop for an emitter tube. A 9mm recess of the emitter is required as a minimum, I set mine at 10mm. If you want to know the exact type/size of tube, I can look it up for you, as I am not near my bench right now.
That looks like a Taigen Tiger I (early version), I have two, and early and a late, they are great runners IMHO. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Yes it is the Taigen Tiger I (early version), and so far I am happy with it for my first build.
Thank you for the help with the hubs, I will see what I can do after supper. |

| I used to punch track pins out all the time to remove the tracks, but the open pins tracks are not that great, so I have mostly taken to remove sprockets or idlers, whichever is easier. You know you can tighten them afterwards, unlike the track pins.
I usually take a very small flat head screw driver and slowly work my way around the hub until you can pry it open without damaging it.

| On the early Taigen Tigers, the hose connections are a pain when using the removable upper hull feature. I got around this by modifying them to be secured with magnets. Before After Finished Installation Exhausts were modified to the shorter format found on these early Tigers serving with Das Reich _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Capp Easiest way to remove the tracks on the Taigen is too first relax the tracks by turning the tensioners to the left ( rear bottom of the tank, one for each side ) Once you loosen the tensioners as much as you can you should be able to pull the track either forward or backward and slightly sideways away from the tanks. You will find that the tracks should be loose enough that they run right off the front drive wheels. reverse the method to replace and then retighten the tensioners |

| Thanks for the help I have been able to get them off now, unfortunately I have found this issue x 3 [img] [/img] As you can see the shaft has sheared right off for the suspension arm, well 3 of them? |

| Whoa, I've never seen that! I suspect a shipping or manufacturer issue, that's not normal. I drive the crap out of my Tiger (same hull) and it's perfect as ever. Get ahold of Erik @ Taigen for parts. Might get lucky and get them for free. Removing the sprocket is one of the best ways on a Tiger for track removal. Pins tend to bend, break, if you remove them often enough. Glen is bang on with 1/4" tubing for emitters, the LED fits perfectly inside. | Ah Tom someday will be a tamyia but for now this has been my only issue of " bad quality" and its not the end of the world for me, but it does have some tamyia paint on it so that should make you happier |

Well, at the June 2014 Meet, I saw a suspension arm fail on a Tamiya tank, they are nice, but like anything else, not immune to problems. Anyway, let me know if you have difficulty getting a replacement. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Thanks, I am in the process of looking now, and if all else fails for the short term i will try some epoxy. These darn german machines and the notorious mechanical failures |

| I saw this happening to beginner over and over. Nobody want to listen. Where is that 'White tiger'? the worst thing is for beginner to taste their first apple sour, then they quit. |

| Capp don't use any glue or anything like that. Let me see if I can get us some parts for your tank first. |

| Wow Capp that's crazy ! I have two Tiger I, 2 KVs, 2 King Tigers and 1 Panther Taigen metal hulls and have never seen that. I guess I better take a look now. Is it three in one spot or is it all over ? Didn't the wheels of the broken one fell off, or is because it is interleave so they are just holding on by other wheels ?
If they are all on one spot then perhaps it was drop at that spot and they just snap off, If they are all over then it must be a bad batch of torsion bars. Did you find the broken pieces in the tank ?
So what happens when you press on the wheels that has the broken torsion bar ? I am just wondering if we should all go check our Taigen metal lowers for the defect if it is not obvious when you run it.

| 3 different ones. all on the right side of the tank, where they sheared is on the inside of the locking tabs so the tabs still held the wheels on as well as the interleaving and tracks. I only found it when the tracks were off and the wheel was allowed to travel alot more, ie when i held the tank the 3 wheels dropped much lower then the others. I will try and take a sample picture later to give everyone an Idea what it did.
