Hey all, a few of you might have talked to me or heard that some IR bulbs I bought online are inflicting FAR too much pain on enemy and friendly tanks alike so I wanted to share info on them, ask if it's something in their spec and hopefully whether I can tone them down a bit.
So for starters here is the link to the bulb in question : [url=

- 5mm LED
- 940nm wavelength (most common)
- 20 degree beam width
- 100 mA continuous, 1000 mA pulse
- Approx 1.6V forward voltage
They seem to be exactly on par with standard Tamiya bulbs and frankly besides the nuclear-missile effect they have on the battlefield they work perfect and are quite powerful and reliable.
I`m going to experience with recessing the bulbs starting at 2cm inside my emitter tube instead of the usual 9mm standard. With luck that`s all it`ll take to narrow the beam and reduce friendly fire and shotgun-spray shots.
I`ll keep you posted! Please let me know any thoughts (Non captain action dirty ones...) you might have!!
