Hi guys,

As a way of introducing myself I thought I would post some pics of my extensive rebuild and conversion of the HL M1A2. I am converting it to an M1A1 HA with the TUSK I upgrades including Belly Armor.

Great photography. The work looks almost 1/6 but we know it is 1/16. It is truly a work of art. I saw some of the work in progress at the UK forum.

Thanks guys for your kind words. I'm not sure if it's OCD or just plain crazy but I enjoy it!!!

I've been modeling 1/32" aircraft for many years and had been looking for a larger scale that allows more detailed details and I think I've found it. This also satisfies the beauty of my modeling railroading passion, that being the ability to operate the model in a realistic manner. Smile

Hi folks,

Here are a few pics of the build progress to date.

Completed the mounting bolts and rivets on the ARATs. Glad that is out of the way all 868 holes drilled for the stems of the simulated bolts and rivets. cheers

Moving on to the Fwd Hull, Headlights, Lift Rings and Tow Bar. I am shamelessly using details from the Trumpeter M1A1 kit. No need in reinventing the wheel! Cool The Headlights have been extensively reworked but the Tow Bar will be pretty much OOB.

I have begun reworking and detailing the turret. I am using the Trumpeter M1A1 kit as an After Market detail set.

Not sure what the recesses marked in red are for but they do not belong so I filled them in with styrene stock. I have removed most of the molded on detail and will replace it with parts from the Trumpeter kit.

Hi guys,

I've been busy adding the details around the Loader's Station needed to start the added armor that surrounds the station.
Mainly the armored electrical conduit and Loader's Hatch  hold open latch.

It's the part I like best. It can be frustrating at times but it challenges my skills and teaches me patience.

Hi Guys,

I'm still plugging away at the Abrams. It's finally starting to come together as I complete some of the final detailing on the sub-assemblies.

This is the completed mantel mounted 50cal.

Interesting that the Tusk has an external "Coaxial" .50 to go with the M240 .30 Cal Co-Ax MG.

When 7.62x51mm isn't enough and 120mm is too much... Use 12.7x99mm from a good 'ole Ma-Deuce.
