| Just received some new accessories from OzArmour in Australia & Welsh Dragon Models in the UK for my Tiger 1 & thought I'd post a photo. Got some Mato metal helmets, Taigen metal spare track links & holders, Mato metal jerry cans, and a Taigen ammunition crate with 2 shells. This in addition to my Torro tank crew figures that I got from a dealer on ebay back in Jan. Since the weather was nice today I took the tank outside for a pic. Tiger 823 probably didn't have spare track links on the turret but I decided to take some artistic licence anyway - just like in Hollywood movies

| LOL... don't look at me or Shoveler for "historical accuracy"... It is your tank, do what you want to it... Looks good! |

Looks good! Thanks Jarlath! LOL, Darn straight - If Heng Long can make a Panther using a Tiger chassis, I figure my 823 can have spare links . That said, I actually do like the look of HL's 'Pantiger' as well. |

| Thanks for the links, Shoveler. Really interesting builds, good looking Panther & MkIII! I'd like to build a 17 pounder Achilles some day, probably using a Mato M10 as a start, like this one but in Canadian WWII markings: https://www.heng-long-panzerforum.com/gallery/userImages/8c/5930-8c70c76c-medium.jpgRegardless of my next purchase, I'll definitely be browsing the forum for ideas and likely asking for help. As far as the pandemic, and with all due respect to the differing opinions that people have about it, my wife has medical conditions that put her at extremely high risk should she become infected so we will not be travelling before we are vaccinated. That said, we can't wait to travel to beautiful WNY again, esp Letchworth Park! Cheers! Pete |

HEY! I camped there a few years ago! Wonderful park. Made some of the best ribs ever while I was camping due to a rub I found at the local grocery store... (I know it's sad when I recall the food first!) |

http://www.taigentanks.com/Panther.html
A Can Am legend, operated by Captain Action, (who is himself, a Can Am legend)
Sigmund (Ziggy) Porsche was a nephew of Ferdinand.
Ziggy was too fond of the Biergarten and other questionable pastimes, resulting in him flunking out of Berlin Poly-technique in 1938.
The family pressured Ferdinand to keep his errant nephew out of trouble and gainfully employed, much to Ferdinand's resentment.
Ferdinand banished young Ziggy to an obscure back office in the company facility at Stuttgart.
Over the years, several impractical designs resulted, while Ziggy grew jealous of his uncle's fame and success.
Ziggy eventually got to see prototypes of the Tiger I and Panther.
Seeing a chance to grab some fame and success, he applied himself like never before, even giving up his trips to the biergartens (at least one went out of business).
Ziggy shamelessly copied design features of both tanks, since he was used to copying others work as a student at Berlin Poly-technique.
The result was a combination of both, a "Pantiger"
Ziggy used his family influence to get some built.
When Hitler was shown mere drawings of the Pantiger, he flew into an extreme rage, very bad, even for him. He said he could not have anything that looked like that in the Panzer Divisions, or something like that, punctuated with inarticulate screams, while foaming at the mouth.
It was serious enough that no one wanted to mention some actually existed
So they were quickly loaded on a train, heavily covered with netting and shipped east in time for Kursk. (Capatain Action needs to re-paint his, the Pantigers at Kursk where grey with yellow over-spray patches, not three colour camo).
They performed fairly well at Kursk but after the initial reception to just seeing the drawings of them, they were kept obscured.
A later episode.
The little known German Civil War of 1944.
Shortages in the spring of 1944 caused the Pantigers to be shipped to southern Russia.
Someone didn't get the message about keeping the the Pantigers existence obscured because some correspondents and photographers from Signal magazine were there to take pictures.
The Pantigers were issued to a group of veterans.
Most of these men had endured so much and were good soldiers.
However, they were asked to pose for some pictures "for the folks" back home.
The idea of them being in a magazine article with tanks that looked like that was too much and they cracked and went rogue, going after Soviet and Axis units alike until they were taken out by Tiger I's of Abt. 506...............................and that's what we will re-enact in the 2013 season

Wifey & I were thinking about staying in one of the cabins next time we visit, but we'll probably cheese out and stay at the nearby Glen Iris Inn instead. Ribs, Letchworth Park ... and RC tanks, what a weekend that would be! |

LOL, Thanks Knispel (And Glen)! For that very interesting snippet on the mysterious and much-maligned Pantiger... Especially knowing the 'history' now, I think I'd like to get that one before the 'Ausf G' version Some Pantiger owners have done some really neat work & paint schemes on them: https://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/download/file.php?id=23864 |
