Subject: AQUINO TANK WEEKEND 2021 Wed Aug 25, 2021 7:01 am
Since this will be our first time there, I am trying to get an idea of what to expect and when. Their site states demonstrations all weekend but is each show the same or different each time? On Friday it states "SPECIAL ACCESS" - what do they mean by that? Should we be bringing any of our tanks? What happens in the evening at the hotel? Do we go out for a casual dinner or do the wives look forward to something more formal? We would like to make this weekend "special" and look forward to seeing everyone.

I'll let Dean talk about Aquino and the tickets.
Dinner on Friday will be at one of the nearby restaurant/pubs. Saturday we have access to the hotel BBQ's and hope to have a BBQ dinner (We'll determine foods on Saturday while at Aquino, and my wife and others will go shopping...)

Special Access means stay the hell out of the way as there will be heavy armour moving all over the place! LOL!
Friday is our set up day which takes as while as the grass area has to be prepared meaning I spend like 3 hours cutting grass down to a height we can work with. Also putting up tents, decorating the field, etc... we usually only get a couple of hours to fart around with tanks before hunger and exhaustion set in and I need a drink...
The demonstrations are usually different through the day shows at 1 and 3. In between they drive stuff around. There is also lots of static to look at of course.
We are armour not air force. Formal is not in our vocabulary...

Dean. We have booked an extra night for Thursday to avoid driving through Toronto on Friday. If there is any way we can help, I mean my wife Oksana, we can discuss this Saturday. My help is limited but I'll do whatever I can.

Is the M14/41 near you guys? Wish I could have seen it drive off the trailer. They posted pics of it on the highway.

Was parked about 60 feet up towards the track (Similar to the Hetzer position a few years ago).
It's a shell with a more modern engine/tranny installed. Turret welded into position and lower hull chopped up to make room for transmission and engine oil pans.

Cool. I had heard of it's mods when Base Borden got it back from somewhere out west. The mods were a surprise when they got it back.

A nice surprise to see it too. Always a very well proportion tank in my mind, one of my personal favours especially with the dark sand yellow almost orange colour.

Impressive array of 1/16 tanks! Be interesting to see pics of the Sherman 76 & Pz III which I think are in the Oshawa tank museum collection.
