Right...the drama of upgrading the T-34 continues, in the most frustrating possible way.

Between the 6.0 and the 7.0 boards, as it turns out, there WAS a change made.  They changed the three-prong connector for the IR receiver.  The 7.0 connector is smaller, and the connector used for the 6.0 tanks do not fit into it.

(I literally just spent half an hour trying to file down the plug, but no, that's not what's needed - what's needed is the correct plug, and I don't even have the vocabulary to find the bloody thing online.)

Seriously, who the hell makes a decision to change a single plug on a tank control board?
