| below is a picture of a black 2pin connector with a black and red wire which terminates in the cupola with a slack of about 4 - 5 inches terminating at a 2pin JST connector. since the IR receiver mounting assembly is also there, I don't know how this JST connector comes into play. |

| It is used to connect to the Hit indicator LED's on a "Hit Ring" that was sold by RCTA. I'm sure I still have a couple of these... |

| OK. So does this mean this wire is redundant and can be removed? Also are these boards used to interface with HL and Taigen tanks for IR Battles? I just bought a Taigen Panther F Metal IR and do I use this board to do IR battle? Thanks again |

| If you are not using the hit indicator ring on a Heng Long/Taigen receiver then you do not need it. It is only to show that you have been hit (visual indicator) which standard HL & Taigen do not have.
The MAKO board sets up the tank to shoot using Tamiya standards (IR duration, bursts, etc...)
I do not think that Taigen IR is compatible with Tamiya IR, let alone standard Heng Long IR. |

| I bought this KT from a member a few years ago and he bought it used from someone else. I'm pretty sure I over paid, being new to the hobby, but that's water under the bridge. Right now I'd just like to get out there and join in the fun and if you have a spare "Hit Ring" how much do you want for it? I think this tank is ready to go, having the MAK02 SMD. Thanks |

| I'm pretty sure that you bought that tank off of me about 3 years ago (January 2018). I admit I flipped the tank (sold it after buying it from another member). I also know the amount I paid and that I sold it for (I made about $25 total). It was basically a new tank (Previously owned, but never run) with magnetic upper hull conversion (but still an external battery box) and an after market Mako board. I also remember ensuring everything functioned before I sold it to you. https://imgur.com/a/21DM1It should have had a hit ring with it, but I have a spare you can have when we next get together in person. I should also mention, that I wouldn't have sold the tank at all now... My son's KT is a beast... |

| yes thanks, that would be great - the reason I said I over paid that as I look at it now = zinc gears and ALL plastic with several broken and missing parts. the only upgrades would be for the magnetic hulls and the tank battle system which I guess makes it fair. :Ayeaye: Also, Thanks for editing those pictures. |

| OK. Is this MAK02 smd board still available? I did a quick check on Google and got no hits. Is this board obsolete and old technology? If not, where can I get one? But if NO Longer available what is my next best course of action? I have a HL Tiger 1 (early edition), another Mato KT and a Taigen Panther F (metal) IR that will all need some modifications. Thanks guys. |

If you are looking newer versions of the MAKO board are available. http://rctanksaustralia.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3Pricing has gotten out of hand IMHO. $65-75 USD for a MAKO board and $35 for a Hit ring... |
