| After my drive to Mini War-Gaming and picking up my Millput putty, I thought I would try my hand at Zimmerit on my Porsche Turret King Tiger. After reading up on the product, I learned it had a working time of at least an hour. I would need this time to get the putty applied to the one side of the turret, smoothed out and then go at it with my idea of creating the Zimmerit lines. Here are the pics of the progress. The back of the turret was such a pain in the ass, I probably won't do this again. It took almost an hour just to mould the Millput onto the back of the turret without making the lines. Tedious work. At the end of the day, I think it's put a smile on my face. One package of Millput will not do the entire tank. I need to get more so I can do the body sides and rear of the tank. The rear, that's going to be a bugger too. Well, can't stop now. | Looks good!
It does take some time doing it, but end result is satisfying. When I did my Tiger, I used Squadron Putty. You had to work quick and do small sections at a time because it would dry hard in 20 mintutes. This stuff looks easier to work with. I'm glad I order 2 packs of Milliput for the Elefant.
What tool did you use to make the pattern? Flat-head screwdriver?

| You will like the Millput better. I would say an hour to an hour and a half work time for sure. What I used was better than a screwdriver. I tried several screwdrivers and couldn't get what I wanted.
I took a section of plastic card, cut it to the width I wanted, took a file and sharpened it to a point and it works perfect.
I would recomend however, to have water on hand as it keep the plastic card from sticking to the Millput. I did a string then dipped in the water.
Worked pretty good.

| When I did my Tiger, I used a small box cutter knife and grineded the blade straight across. It worked pretty good, but I might try experimenting other methods. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

Too many other tanks I'm working on at the same time, like my gear problem in one of my Tiger 1's.

| I don' t think Ian did the Zimmerit.
He hired a team of dwarf masons and turned them loose.
They did a great job.
HUH-RAH to the ELF masons.

| One box ya say ! You must be da master spreader. I didn't come even close to doing it in one box. I will be lucky to get it done with two. I'm not a pro at doin this like you are...maybe I can steel some tips off ya as this stuff is a lil pricey. _____________________________________________ My Tanks <<== Click hereCan-Am Tank Club <<< Web site linkTiger I | King Tiger | Panther G | PzIII | PzIV | Stug IV | SturmTiger | Pershing/Howitzer | M16 Halftrack | M26 Super Pershing | M48 Patton | M41 Bulldog | Gepard | Leopard | KV-1 | KV-2 |T-34 | |
