Posting Whether Or Not You are Coming To A Meet, Request

I wanted to ask, do you feel we are asking to much for everyone to post whether or not they are coming to a scheduled meet?

I am bringing this up because at the July, 12, 2014 we had an unprecedented situation where only 4 people attended, so we are in new territory here and we are actively requesting input from our membership.

There is a fair amount of work in preparing the field on the Thursday or Friday before a meet, this is a futile exercise if we get a significant number of no shows that we are not aware of.

Currently people bring food, either purchased specially for the day or some take time to prepare something unique to the event to feed many, not just 3-4 people, and it is unfair to the people who do show up.

Also, in the event of the winter meets, the hall has to be paid for and the cost is split up amount the attendees, if the attendance is low, there is a problem dealing with paying for the use of the hall.

I don't expect everyone to be at every meet. (Although I have to be at every outdoor meet day to unlock things, Stinger and Wayne are out every month a day or two ahead of the meet t prep. the field and Dean has to be at every winter indoor meet to get things arranged)

For the July Meet, we had four people indicate they were not attending and that was fine, at least we knew that.

In the absence of any more people saying the would, or would not come out, we went ahead, expecting a lower but worthwhile attendance

From the roll call, I saw the forum was viewed substantially in the days leading up to the meet, all we are asking is, if you are going to log on, please take a minute to let us know if you are, or are not attending the next scheduled meet.

It's been pretty non-formal, I'll just say yay or nay because I'm usually working weekends.

I ALWAYS let the forum know if I am or am not coming to any meet. Please all members, this should just be a regular thing to do to indicate you are coming. This actually worked pretty well in the winter, I always had an idea of how many were coming good or bad.
So many of the field guys work so hard to have the field ready that it is a shame only 4 showed for the last one. I'm sure if they had known they would have switched it to a better weekend if they could.

Just for the record, I won't be there for the 9th as indicated before...
