Put a few .22 rounds up main street and not worry about having the damned thing bite you... Oh wait... That would have me doing that... Only good 'Coon is a dead one...

To the first. Nope. I have cleaned the blood, crap and fur out of a Camry vs Deer scenario...
To the second, had raccoons try an live in my parent's old house (climbed the antenna and ripped open the soffits to try and create a "nest".) I was still living there. I have a ample amount of dislike for raccoons.

I've had raccoons in my attic but i didn't kill the little buggers. Blasted them out with music and on my hands and knees made sure they weren't still in there. i even was 2 feet from one that tried to come back in but it didn't want nothing to do with me. didn't get a scratch

I've known two people who were attacked by raccoons and then needed rabies shots. I'll pass on the close encounter. I love nature, but as with everything, there are exceptions, and raccoons fall into that category for me.

If I recall 24 hrs of White Snake would have done the trick.

I agree they need to be handled with care. I've sent a few down the river Styx just to be sure. My friend Ryan 's young boy woke him up saying there was something trying to get into his room . Sure enough a racoon was clawing through the ceiling. (# traumatized for life )
